Has there been a successful Belichek protege? Crennel got fired from Browns/ Magini got fired from Jets. Josh McDaniels got terminated at Denver and Weis washed out at Notre Dame. That's 0-4.

One mark of a great coach is the success of his assistant coaches. Belichek for all his superbowl rings and high winning percentages, has not spawned success with his assistants.

Lombardi's assistant coaches have been successful. Bill Walsh's assistants coaches Mike Shanahan, Jon Gruden, Brian Billick, Pete Carroll, Gary Kubiak, Steve Mariucci and Jeff Fisher have won Superbowls or almost.

Belicheks assitants get fired.

Until Belicheks coaches win superbowls, he's not a great coach but a wonderful cheater.

Oh my god. Just shut up. That has to be the most petty thing I've ever read.

Yeah, seriously. Just because Belichick's assistants haven't been successful isn't necessarily a reflection of his abilities as a head coach. Not all position coaches are head coach material. Simple as that. I hate Belichick, but one thing he excels at is knowing how to maximize a person's abilities, limited as they might be. He's possibly the best coach I've ever seen when it comes to exploiting each player's and coaching assistant's individual talents.

Crennel, McDaniels, Mangina... these guys were never cut out to be running an entire football team for a plethora of reasons, the least of which is Belichick.

We have bigger issues than proteges?

Trash talking aside Bellichick is kickin' ass. The Patriots are the team to beat. We got smoked by them. And unless something wild happens the road to the Super Bowl is going through Taxachusetts.

You may not have to like it but the Steelers surely respect it.

As much as I hate Belicheat....
Shanahan- fired in Oakland and Denver becasue of ego
Gruden- I like too much to say anything
Billick- fired in Baltimore becasue of ego
Carroll- hasn't won anything without cheating(USC)
Kubiak- about to be fired in Houston
Mariucci- still unemployed.. Detroit destroyed him
Jeff Fisher- could be on his way out if Vince has his way!

A little harsh since most of them have been successful at some point... In this new era of football, coaches who have 2 bad seasons in a row are pretty much screwed. Back in the day, teams would give head coaches atleast 4-5 years to build the team before getting fired... This whole fired someone after 1 or 2 bad years started when Jones fired Tom Landry... Though at the time everyone was shocked, but his replacement ended up building a dynasty. Owners are pretty set on trying to duplicate this result.

I'd say they still way out preformed anything the CHEATer has produced. Although he has spawned several very good Video Specialists

Gruden and Mariucci technically are part of Holmgrens coaching tree... but since he coached under Walsh, you can say Walsh is partly responsible for Holmgrens superbowl win and everyone who coached under him (9+ future head coaches) are part of his tree.

Thank you! And Gruden won with Dungy's BUCS!!! And technically you could say Gruden lost also just because he beat his own team in the Raiders!

There is no doubt, that Gruden only won because he wrote the Raiders playbook and they were too stupid to change it.

And as long as were talking Dungy, he considers himself part of the Chuck Noll tree, he always has maintained that the Tampa 2 was taught to him as a Steeler and they should get credit.
