Mark Rypien signed a one game contract with the Rochester Raiders of the newly formed Great Lakes Indoor Football League.

Not that the Raiders need a QB as Omar Baker was player of the week as the Raiders beat NY/NJ 71-13. The Raiders are made of former local star athelets. One guy a TE was picked up by a NFL Europe team and made last cuts in the NFL, currently he was waived by the Fire but is awaiting a injury as the top TE available

On a more serious note this is quite a cool league, only a 7 on 7 game but it gets rid of some of the gimmicks of the AFL. Case in point, no nets. The rules are geared much more torwards outdoor football. There are no restrictions on LB's like in the AFL. Pretty much the similarities stop at indoors and boards. Right now their are six teams, The Rochester Raiders, Marion Mayhem, Lehigh Valley Outlawz, Battle Creek Crunch, Port Huron Pirates, and 1 traveling team the NY/NJ Revolution. There are going to be more teams added next year. The one traveling team is to even out the home games within the 10 game schedule. The cool thing I think about the league is the proximity of the fans. All the teams play in small arenas, 2500 to 4000 or so seat venues. The Raiders sold out w/standing room 3000+ in a 2700 person arena. The even built a ship in the arena for the team entrance and cheerleaders. The tickets are 20 bucks and less. I am definatley gonna catch the next game no matter how much it pains me to root for a team named the Raiders

Its only a 1 game deal in which he pretty much uses the roster exemption for a game puts on a uniform and takes some pictures. Maybey he throws a pass or two if he gets in the game
