(So much for that stupid thread that some newbie posted claiming that he "heard" from friend on twitter who said that he heard it on the radio in Phoenix that Fitz wanted to become a Steeler. I called BS on it and I was right. I hate it when newbies post unsubstantiated crap on the board. - mesa)

The Cardinals have begun contract talks with their best player, WR Larry Fitzgerald.

PFW correspondent and Arizona Republic writer Kent Somers confirmed an ESPN report that the Cardinals have opened talks with Fitzgerald, whose current contract expires after the 2011 season.

Fitzgerald is being paid an average of $10 million and is one of the league's highest-paid receivers. He had 90 catches for 1,137 yards in 2010, but his six touchdowns were his lowest output since the 2006 season. (Like the Steelers could ever afford him. - mesa)

Fitzgerald has said that he prefers to remain in Arizona.

The way we see it

The offense does not have a whole lot around Fitzgerald, and the Cardinals should put everything they can into negotiations to hold onto him. It would help keep Fitzgerald in Phoenix to solidify the quarterback situation, but luckily for the Cards, he wants to stay in Arizona.

If they keep throwing 10+ million a year, I don't see why he would want to come here, its so warm in Arizona lol

theres no way arizona lets fitz walk, he's just too good, and isn't a problem child like TO or Moss

sucks for him though he'll be stuck on that losing franchise for his entire career, he's this football generation's barry sanders. Once in a generation talent, one of the best ever to play, never win a championship and the team would never allow him to be traded. He will retire when he gets sick of losing

imagine the kind of numbers he'd put up if he played for the colts or patriots, lol

Patriots changed their offensive style, or they'd probably go after him soon. They have 6 or 8 draft picks in the first 3 rounds, they could use any combination of those to get Fitz.
