from nfl live.

since the draftclass of 1983 that produced elway, marino, and kelly, 40+ qb's have been drafted in the 1st round. only 3 have gone on to win the super bowl:

t. aikman
t. dilfer
b. roethlisberger

Holy crap!!!

Trent Difler was a first round pick? :sofunny:

Really though, that is a cool stat. I just hope one more QB gets added to that list soon.

all i can say about that is trading m. vick for l.t. and d. brees (2nd rounder) was one of the greatest coupes ever. especially after all the heat the chargers took.

oh well.

Lets just say we got 2 players that pass better than Vick with that trade.

I wonder if The Steelers are the only team to draft TWO QBs in the first round that won SBs

(Bradshaw and Big Ben)

im thinking aikman and staubach, right off the bat. im pretty sure staubach was a 1st rounder. there have only been 41 sb's, and hundreds of qb's come and go. not many teams have even won 2 sb's so i bet its us and dallas

Nope. Staubach was a 10th round pick in the 1964 draft. Now there's a steal.

No, doesn't count he was originally a fourth round draft pick, and picked up by Washington three years after he was drafted. AND he was not even a QB when he started out in Washington, he was a punt returner. Check out the article...

...And Plunkett was not even drafted by the Raiders, he was drafted by the Pats.

all i care is that bEN IS ON THE LISTand terry bradshaw.

looks like the dubious destinction of drafting 2 1st round quarterbacks who have both won the sb belongs to the steelers. next time they draft a qb in the 1st round- watch out! until then ben has 2-3 more to go.

The Steelers also drafted Mark Malone in the first round, hopefully that history won't repeat itself....LOL

And I love the idea of 4 for Bradshaw and 4 for Ben.

I know its funny to think about him being a 1st round pick and see how he struggled all those years in Tampa Bay. Granted he didnt have alot of talent around him but still. And he's only got a SB ring because the Ratbirds had such a great defense that year and running game.

he would be 4th if you count the class of 83

LOL I thought we were talking about '83 on. Maybe I am confused, I thought Elway was drafted in '83

John Elway

Selected by the Baltimore Colts in the first round (first pick overall) of the 1983 NFL Draft.
Acquired: Rights traded by the Indianapolis Colts to the Denver Broncos for QB Mark Herrmann, rights to OL Chris Hinton and a first-round pick (OG Ron Solt) in the 1984 NFL Draft on May 2, 1983.

:bouncy: 83 was used as a point of reference cause thats when 3 qb's who were drafted in the 1st round would eventually be hall of famers (2 1sb ballot hofers, not sure bout kelly but he was probly 1st ballot too.

That's one of the things I love that A.j. Smith did.
