It's called "The Curse Of The Jets".

I've always had a theory about the Jet's bad luck and it has to do with having a home.

When the Jets moved into the Meadowlands, they were always going to be just a tenant. The sign on the side of the stadium said it was the home of the Giants and everything inside it was blue. When the Jets played a "home" game, the best they could do was to hang some green drapes over the Giaint-Blue walls and pretend it was their home field.

So all these years I've said that the Jets would never be successful until they had a place they could call home and that until then, they'd always be the "Flying Dutchman" of the NFL -- a team lost at sea looking for a port.

But now they have a home (of sorts). They still share the rent with the Giants but the stadium isn't called "Giants Stadium" anymore and is now just called "The New Meadowlands".

Whether this is actually an honest-to-goodness home or just another way of sharing space with a potential rival as they always have remains to be seen. But the place isn't all blue anymore and is in fact rather neutral in color and based on their performance since moving in to their new digs, a case could be made that perhaps they've finally found that port and maybe they can now concentrate on playing and winning instead of just struggling to have an identity.

Time will tell.

If they do have a curse, they should REALLY make an effort to steer clear of any Terrible Towels then. If they were to desecrate a TT, they would truly be screwed! :chuckle:

Yesterday, i already seen a picture of a Jets Fan burning The TT on Facebook. And here's a video of Two Jets fans stomping on it, after we lost to them in the regular season.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDa1f8iaQcQ

Anyone who doesn't believe in The Power of the Towel should just remind people of what has become of T.J. Houshmanzada's career (as well as his ability to catch footballs) after he decided to desecrate the sacred cloth on that fateful day in Cincy.

I would sooner tempt fate with a Ouija board before I'd mess with The Towel.

Maybe we'll get a double negative kind of effect, and the curses will cancel out

I guess it couldn't be because they just haven't been good enough to win the big game, could it?

Have they had heart breaker superbowl losses?
Afc champioship losses?

I'll stick with the fact that they haven't been that good.

Adding to that, Brunell took one out of the hands of a fan that was on the field during pregame and threw it on the ground.

Don't forget about the Titans, LenDale White, and Keith Bulluck.

The Titans have been in the basement since.

LenDale White can't stay on a team, has failed a drug test, and suffered a season-ending Achilles injury before this season.

Keith Bulluck left the Titans and played for the defense that had a historical meltdown against Vick and the Eagles, and ultimately cost them the playoffs.

Oh he has totally screwed the pooch on that one.

Teams (that I can think of offhand) that have messed with the towel:

Bengals ('05) - Whoseyourmama wipes his feet with the towel, Carson gets jacked up in playoff meeting, Bengals continue to suck, TJ brings his bad juju to the Ratbirds.

Titans ('08) - Lendale White stomps on the towel, they lose in the first round playoffs and have sucked ever since.

Cardinals ('08) - Mayor of Arizona and Cardinals mascot publicly burn the towel, they lose SB 43 and then lose in the playoffs next year and have now fallen back into utter mediocrity.

I don't not subscribe to the theory that everyday fans disgracing the towel is bad juju for the team...only when players or team figures do it and the media gets a hold of it.

I know there's more, I just can't think of them. What a shame that a sucky backup QB had to bring the bad juju down.

P.S. Not a completely serious post.....or is it! :tt02:
