The enemy is among us.

Dressed in gold and black, Steelers fans in New York City don't skulk in the shadows - they mock us openly. :chuckle::chuckle:

They gather in their own watering holes. They speak with strange accents about their "Stillers." They have no doubt who will win this weekend when their team takes on our Jets for a chance to play in the Super Bowl.

"I say it will be 28-17 Steelers on Sunday," said Steelers superfan Phil Casaceli.

His Daddy-O bar in Greenwich Village is not just a magnet for Steelers fans - it's a shrine.

A Steelers helmet autographed by Hall of Fame quarterback Terry Bradshaw sits under protective glass.

Nearby rests a Terrible Towel, which is something silly Steelers fans wave to spur on their team.

Casaceli also keeps plenty of Iron City beer - the nectar of life to Steelers fans - on ice.

"This is Steelers country," he said. "It's amazing how many Steelers fans show up. It turns into Little Pittsburgh."

Unlike fans of truly hated teams like the New England Patriots or Philadelphia Eagles, Steelers fans say they get grudging respect from New Yorkers.

"It's hard to dog on a franchise with six Super Bowl rings," said Chris Landis, a 30-year-old Steel City native who tends bar at George Keeley on Amsterdam Ave.

The Jets, by contrast, have won the Super Bowl just once - back in 1969.

Also, there's a fifth column in New York rooting for the Steelers - they're called Giants fans.

Brian Haran, a Steelers fan despite being from Long Island, said he expected to catch grief when he recently wore his black-and-gold jersey to an Islanders hockey game.

Instead, Haran said, he got a bunch of attaboys.

"Three or four people came up to me and said, 'Could you please win Sunday? We're Giants fans, and the Jets are starting to annoy us,'" he said. :toofunny::toofunny:
