I love the Pistons!!! The last two seasons have been great. I was born, and grew up in Michigan, and I have always been a Pistons fan. I am just old enough to remember when they won in the late 80's early 90's. The teams that won last year, and I hope repeat this year, are awesome to watch. They are just that, a "team" the complete opposite of the normal "me first" attitude in the NBA. In every game any one of the five starters could be the star. They share the ball, play tough defense, and take smart shots. In a period where the Steelers and Penn State have fallen just short of Championships, the Pistons have delivered 3 times. I hope by the end of the season I get to witness their fourth NBA Championship........GO PISTONS!!!

I hope Miami and Detroit make it to the Eastern Conference Championship game. It would be a good series. I would like to see The Pistons defeat Shaq again. If they beat Shaq and Kobe, they can beat Shaq and Wade. It is the ultimate team philosophy vs. the "me first" ballhog attitude in the NBA.

:blah: :blah:

HOMER ALERT!!! :busted:

Most underrated player: Damon Jones....And here Ill back it up and say why...

Dude has the best 3 Point Field Goal Percentage in the NBA (43%)

Consistantly puts up points...Averaged 11.6 points per game but thats because hes the 4th option(behind D-Wade, Shaq and Eddie Jones)

Once Shaq is gone, him and D-Wade will be damned good.

And Im not even a Heat fan

yeah of course BUT EVERYBODY KNOWSSSSS HE CAN BALL thats why hes not underrated

Tayshaun is underrated cuz he has great defense, can shoot the ball, and can drive it in. 2 years ago he limited t-mac to 17 points in the playoffs, in the first two games of the series when they had him on iverson instead of rip he limited iverson to 21 and 19 points and do u not remember the block he had on reggie miller last year. And he went from like 7 ppg last year to 15 this year and 6 RPG to 9 this year or sumthin like that

Big Game Tonight!!! I'm going to have to go with the Pistons. If they play like they played in game 1 and 4 then they should be in the finals again. We will see though.

I think we are gonna get to see a game 7......

If the Pistons lose in Miami tonight, I don't see them losing game six in Detroit.

I hope they win tonight!!!

Oh, and all the rumors about Larry Brown going to Cleveland are killin me. I dont want to see him go.....he is the reason the are champions. He is the reason they play the "right way"......plus, I love the way he talks :)

I think this is a team full of above-average players, who become great players in LB's system. I think Rasheed and Rip are very talented players, but there game has improved alot in Larry Browns offense. Billups was a drifter......I think he has played for 6 different teams. Now he is an NBA Finals MVP, and one of the best PG's in the league!!! I think he uses Prince perfectly......he always puts him in the right spot, and he has found him a nitch in the NBA.. When they drafted him I thought because of his size and a longer 3 point line, he may not last in this league. Ben Wallace has no game, but he is a beast on the boards, and a monster on the defensive end......and LB uses the bench very well (mostly by not playing Darko)

It has been a long time since a team has dominated and won a title without one of the NBA's real superstars, think about it (Bird, Magic, Isaiah, Jordan, Hakeem, Duncan, Shaq)......the media likes some of the Pistons now, but before last year most people didn't think much of them, and by no means could any of them be considered one of the NBA'a posterboys like the others.

If ever a coach can be credited for winning a championship, I think it is LB......

Not much into basketball until the finals, but can someone answer this for me? Shaq vs. Kobe: If Kobe is 0-1 in playoff teams since Shaq left, and Shaq is now on his third successful team with a different guard(Penny, Kobe, Dwayne), how could someone think it is more important to keep Kobe than to keep a player like Shaq? I'm thinking you can always find a player to team up with Shaq, but how often does a Shaq or Duncan come along?

For the record, I don't think Detroit is as confident as last year. Heat win.

BB2W, remember I don't know much about basketball, so you won't have to convince me too long that Detroit could win. All I know is last year they held like 10 teams under 80- points in a row. This year I never heard anything about them being on a roll defensively, so while they did win big, I just don't know if they can do it 2 games in a row. [notes to rest of thread that Detroit could win by 100 and wouldn't be surprised that my post was wrong]. As for the prediction, I just felt I needed to answer the original question. Heard today that the Heat are pretty banged up. Wish I knew that too.

Very nice cover-up.......

I don't think we match up well with the Spurs. I would have rather have played the Suns. The Pistons could stop the fast-break offense, but the Spurs want to do the same things as Detroit.......That makes for a tough series.

Yeah it is getting ugly for the Spurs. My family is from Detroit, and after game 2 my dad was up there and he bought me a bootleg Pistons shirt that says 2005 champions. After the slow start they were selling them all over Detroit for half price. I am wearing it with pride now, I hope they pull it out! They must win the game this Sunday......

I dont know about you Cats , but I haven't seen a team that demoralized since Week 4.....

I don't make predictions or bet on my teams (they always lose). I will say Detroit MUST win this game. Obviously, you can't go to San Antonio needing to win both games. It is a huge game for both teams, but more important for the Pistons.

In football I can see why home field makes a difference, crowd noise, weather conditions, type of grass, kind all make a difference. I think homecourt in basketball is a tad overrated, I don't see any reason why a team should be better in one court over the other.

In the 2005 draft the Pistons have selected......

Round 1 (26th) --- Jason Maxiell 6-7 250 PF Cincinnati
Maxiell is a mini-Ben Wallace, the strongest and most aggressive big man in the draft. He's undersized, but next to Pistons' front line, he'll be just fine thanks to a 7-foot-3 wingspan and big-time hops. He has what Joe Dumars looks for in a Piston, which is a tough, aggressive, blue-collar approach to the game.

Career Highlights: Finished 11th on Cincinnati?s career scoring list with 1,566 points (13th in Conference USA history) and second on the UC career chart for blocked shots with 252 (4th in C-USA). Played 129 consecutive games, the second-longest streak in Bearcats? history, and started the last 77 contests.

Senior (2004-05): Earned All-Conference USA Second Team honors. Led C-USA in blocked shots (2.8 bpg) and ranked 18th in the nation. His 91 blocks is the second-highest UC single-season total. Averaged 17.3 points in UC?s three postseason games and shot .607 from the field. Posted 22 points (8-of-11 shooting), nine rebounds and six blocks in NCAA Tournament opening round win vs. Iowa. Recorded a career-high eight blocks to go with 14 points and 10 rebounds vs. Houston. Scored a career-high 30 points and tallied seven blocks vs. Longwood. Tied his career with 15 rebounds, and recorded 21 points and five blocks vs. Northern Iowa.

Junior (2003-04): Named to the All-Conference USA Second Team. Earned C-USA All-Tournament honors, averaging 9.0 points and 6.0 rebounds in three games. Led the Bearcats in scoring (13.1 ppg), rebounds (6.9 rpg) and blocked shots (2.1 bpg). Scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds in win over No. 20 Memphis. Scored in double figures 24 times.

Sophomore (2002-03): Recorded six double-doubles and led Cincinnati in rebounding and blocked shots. Tallied 17 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks in C-USA Tournament vs. Southern Miss. Scored 24 points in victory over No. 11 Oklahoma State, and tallied 20 points and 13 rebounds in victory over No. 5 Oregon.

Freshman (2001-02): Named Conference USA Sixth Man of the Year and earned C-USA All-Freshman Team honors. Averaged 9.3 points and 7.0 rebounds in the three C-USA Tournament games. Scored 18 points (9-of-9 shooting) in victory over DePaul. Grabbed 15 rebounds to go with 13 points and six blocks in win over Coppin State.

Strengths: Freakish leaping ability and physical strength allow him to play much bigger than his listed height. Runs the floor exceptionally well for a player his size.
I love this pick! I am a Bearcat fan, and J-Max has been great the last few seasons. Plus, he is fun to watch.....

The Detroit Pistons and Larry Brown are parting ways, sources close to the situation told ESPN.com's Marc Stein.

The Pistons and Brown, sources said, moved closer Monday to a buyout of Brown's contract, which has three years left at an estimated $18 million.

Brown said as recently as Friday that he was "confident" about returning to the Pistons next season, having overcome season-long speculation about new jobs to lead Detroit to within one victory of back-to-back championships. Yet Brown, according to sources, could not guarantee that his health would hold up for a full season, which Pistons owner Bill Davidson had made a prerequisite for the 64-year-old's return.

Flip Saunders is the leading canidate to replace him.
