View Full Version : "no throwing dirt on the body" - best tomlin quote ever.

i was watching sound FX on nfl network and they showed tomlin address the team in the locker room immediately after last weeks win vs the ravens.

he told the team he wanted them to move forward and there was no need looking back. no throwing dirt on the body.

that is profound.

the ravens are dead and there is no need to bury them (not even worthy of a burial). no need to talk about them. no need to even think about them.

after all, the main goal was to win the division first and the superbowl second.

i notice the media sure loves bart scotts post game anti patriots rant. :noidea:

i wonder where both teams focus has been the entire season, and which team really has the ultimate prize in its crosshairs?

while belichick is personal to the jets, lombardi is personal to the steelers.

tomlin never seems to let the team lose sight of that focus.

Is it true that the jets are still trading words with the patriots? I like tomlin's stance on focusing on the task at hand

I love it. All week the Steelers have been focusing on the Jets while the Jets have still probably been chattering about how great it was to finally beat the Patriots when it mattered.

Tomlin is Bellicheck in no emotions on game day, but he's like Ryan in the locker room.

i love how tomlin subtley refered to the ravens as a corpse rotting in the sun.

no need to bury them, just let the buzzards, crows, and maggots dispose of the road kill, as we keep on truckin'.

brilliant!

Its a testament to Tomlin's razor sharp focus on just moving onto the next week & getting ready for next week's opponent. Jets acted like they won the Super Bowl after beating the Pats.

Let's not forget the Dick LeBeau quote of the year:

These guys cannot score on us without some fluky sh!t. (at: 2:40)

Good to see him confident and fired up like that. Love it. :tt03:

No problem...glad I found it.

I got to see James in an almost falling off towel. :naughty:

And it's freaking awesome to see Ben becoming such a vocal leader now. :tt02:

Have you ever seen Tomlin miced up with NFL films? He's far from not having emotions on gameday, just live TV cameras just don't seem to catch him at the right moments.

Ben was very leader-like as well.

Brady would have already been halfway dishing out blame to everyone but himself.

He was actually asked to lower his tgwel before the cameras went on in the locker room.

The towel was originally at his belly button.

Did anyone else notice the lackluster "wideouts" that was mumbled in the beginning after Derrick Mason's little inspirational call for "wideouts on 3?" They sounded defeated before the game even started.

It did indeed make me laugh, but then made me start thinking as well.

I mean, these be some grown-ass men. And I mean, honestly, I'd feel awkward there, just 4 people. And it's not like they needed the extra cheerleading effort because they knew that either:

1.) Ray Lewis was going to be a bigger cheerleader and they were going to have to scream some other dumb-ass choice word like "TEAM!" or "DOMINATE!" or "IT WASN'T ME, I DIDN'T DO IT!". So why be all "AWWWWWW YEEEEEEAH!" in the WR huddle. Psssssssh. http://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/27.gif Ni@@a, please.

2.) They already had to do that sh!t and didn' t wanna do it again because it was the WR huddle.

One way or another, F the WR huddle to get jacked up. They were prolly all like, "Psssh. Whatever, Derrick. You suck."

Which, I thought was hilarious how he awkwardly turned back around towards the camera. We're talkin' a 270... I lol'd there. Brotha had to get his mug on camera. Gonna make a slow-mo .gif of that one.

this is where tomlin is so smart.

he leaves the corpse for us fans to pick over and then bury the carcass. the players get the ultimate prize but we get some fun as well. :applaudit:

I am glad we whooped that azz-- I don't like the way Ray Rice shoved Troy's face into the dirt when he dodged his tackle for the TD. Few people get to make that mistake and live to tell about it.....

I am willing to bet Troy "gets him" the next time we play in 2011....

So true, what Tomlin said. And you see it this week form the Steelers. Not a word past Sunday about the ratbirds but teh Jets acted like they won the SB. Next year maybe but the Pats were their SB. Say what you want about their D playing well but they are still talking Pats. We immediately started talking Jets. The Steelers remember and I'm sure vividly that week 15 game. I truly expect a focused and hardened group of Steelers that tear the ass outta the Jets on Sunday. Not a blow out but a very comfortable win.
