The titans are so far from contending for anything except another high 1st round pick next year. 1 decent WR, no solid running game, a defense that is sorry, and OL that is pretty offensive. Its probably good that they took Young over Lienart because atleast Vince can scramble and avoid the impending pass rush he's gonna be facing more often then he probably wants too.

Think this could inhibit his progress due to not having a great supporting cast, atleast right now?

young wont be starting and i think t. henry, l. white, and c. brown is one hell of a backfield.

Henry is overrated IMO...Brown is an underachiever partly due to no decent blocking. White is a plus for them and will make them all better if for no other reason then bringin out the best of them to compete..but still if you dont have a decent OL, you're not gonna run anywhere with consistency.

Henry overrated?? You bet your ass he is. Young is way far away from a successful season

Hmmm its swings and roundabouts with this one.

On one hand its never good throwing a rookie into such a dire situation with a lack of team-wide talent to back him up.

But of course, the pressure is really off Young in another sense, as he practically has the 2006 and most of the 2007 season written off by all the talking heads as an 'adjustment time' for him to acclimatise to the NFL.

There is nothing worse than being expected to save a struggling franchise when you are still learning the position.

I am little worried about Youngs mental ability when it comes to assimilating the playbook - we have already seen Mike Vick struggle no matter how simple they make the playbook for him.

A QB who looks to scramble too early essentially devalues his own WR corps - they are only really there to catch passes.

If Young can limit himself to using his athleticism to escape bad situations only, then I think he could be quite a talent.

You have to think the coaches will limit the play book for him, assuming he does start. You make good points about getting the playbook down, and plus making so many reads on any 1 single play. His basic offense in Texas suited him great, but he's gonna have to be discplined to go through his reads alot more now.

He can do it, he's a smart tough kid, but the odds are against him this year with the titans have little to support him.
