Innovative Pittsburgh Steelers defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau has no plans to abandon the stingy defense he built.

The architect of the Steelers' aggressive zone blitz says he's remaining in Pittsburgh next season..

I promise you, if Im coaching, it will be the Pittsburgh Steelers, LeBeau said. With this defense, with this group of men, theyll have to run me out of here."

The Steelers have no plans of doing something that foolish anytime soon.

LeBeau's schemes and motivational skills are invaluable to the organization.

So glad to hear that, he is the reason why the defense has been so solid and effective year after year. Players love him, his schemes are top notch and the continuity he has given the franchise has been paramount in our success.

It doesn't surprise me at all since he loves the players as much as they love him. His defenses are just so fun to watch not just from the perspective of being a fan of the team that he is DC for but as a fan of football too. I was really glad to see that he finally made the Hall of Fame this summer.

I hope he stays one more year at least. Then they can give it to Butler. i'm not so thrilled about butler because i know he has aspirations. people want to say we will be fine but if he has a good year, people will be offering him a head coaching job somewhere so butler will only be our DC for 1 or 2 years...better train someone behind him.

Funny I was thinking Capers studied under Lebeau when in Pitt but instead Lebeau worked under Capers as a secondary coach. Still, Lebeau is the father.

Classic case of the chattering clowns at ESPN making their own "news" to fill time on the pre-game show by tossing out the LeBeau non-story

That was one heck of a staff on the defensive side of the ball (Cowher was the former D-coordinator at KC, Capers as the D-coordinator, Marvin Lewis as the linebackers coach and LeBeau coaching the secondary) that installed the 3-4 zone blitz defense the Steelers have been running ever since

If more coaches and players, too, would enjoy and appreciate what they have where they are, things would be better off.
How many times does some coach (or player), scamper to another team, thinking the grass is greener, to basically fail and wish they were back where they came from? Happens all the time. LeBeau's a total class act.

LeBeau is a class act but he took a lateral move from Steelers D coordinator to Bengals D-coordinator to get the hell away from Cowher (who apparently was hell to work with, especially in his early days), then went to the Bills after he was canned as Bengals HC until, to the surprise of many, he came back to work with Cowher in 2004.

So LeBeau has roamed, but after tours of duty with 2 of the more dysfunctional owners in the league (Brown and Wilson) he has the good sense not to go for the triple crown and go to work for Bidwell

The man is a legend. PERIOD. I wouldn't want anyone else running our defense but him!!

Hope he stays with us until he's 90!!
