We`ve been talking about this on and off for a few days now. In cleveland their philosphy is beat Pittsburgh thats it. GM Savage asked all his players alst week, one on one, can you beat the Steelers. Yesterdays 2nd round pick this is how Savage desribe him. " He is a player that can go toe to toe with Pittsburgh" Wow thats scary, if savage thinks one second round pick lB is the difference maker, he is sadly mistaken. Have the brownies improved YES, but so have we, Not a chance savage, not a chance/

Too much focus on one team is one of the reasons they are so far under .500

and, all that focus does them no good ... LOL we STILL embarassed them 41-0!!

Way to go Brownies .. haha!

Actually I would typically agree with that but not in this case.

I think they should be trying to compete in the AFC North first. That will battle test most teams for a run in the playoffs

Thats exactly it..they are so focused on us, it doesnt matter about anyone else... that's an awful lot of pressure to put on entire team, much less a new draft pick straight outta college. What are they supposed to say, "uh no coach, Im not good enough to play them" ..of course not, they're gonna say, "yeah coach, i can do it, bring em on".. if they beat us, its their super bowl, plain and simple.

i don't understand why so many up in here are baffled over the fact that savage wants a team that can beat the steelers. you're the nfl champions, and the toughest team in our division. you were the only team that dominated us last year. of course savage doesn't think the steelers are the ONLY team to beat this season.

if we can beat you guys, than that proves we can compete against any other team in the nfl. and savage (as do i) thinks that the players we've picked thus far address the weaknesses we had last season. i'm positive he doesn't think the browns chances of beating the steelers rests solely on our second round draft pick.

you know, every team in the nfl guns for the superbowl champs, it's not just the browns.

No doubt Brownies put special emphasis on the Steelers, but I think his comment was more of a way of saying the guy can handle the NFL. Of course, no one is more hard-hitting or tougher to play than the Steelers, so that's what he meant. Quit thinking the world revolves around us.

Wrong just because a one team beats aanother means squat, sometimes matchup are exposed more between two teams thann the rest of the NFL, or we might of had an off day. Like the old saying, Even a blind dawg finds a bone now and then.
And we were just recently crowned world champs again, if you knew this city it is 24/7 if they were to win just one game and it was against the Steelers they would have felt that they had a succesful season. It is the teams mentality, and the fans for sure. They never talk 10 wins, they only talk beating the Steelers. If they were to lose to the steelers twice big deal if you are headed for the playoffs. Number one concentration should always be wins, not teams. You get 16 games to stake your claim on a playoff berth, if you want to use us as motivation and not wins fine, but after the first loss is your season over??? Think about rationally, wins are what matters. I want the Steelers to win 12+ games, who they lose to, big deal, just get to the dance.

The browns #1 priority has always been the Steelers...every year you hear someone in the FO for the browns talk about making sure they beat the Steelers..the fans always say.. I dont care if we do 2-14 as long as we beat the Steelers.

Hence the reason the browns have been bad for so long..their goals are all wrong. Focus on your future and grabbing players that can help you. The wins will come in time if they are focused, which they havent been for quite awhile.

The Browns are putting too much emphasis on their 41-0 whoopin' by the Steelers instead of focusing on long-term goals as an entire team, in my opinion.

hey man, i grew up in cleveland, my entire family lives in cleveland... i visit 3-4 times a year. i'm sure there's a bunch of browns fans who "only" want to beat the steelers, but not every fan feels that way. there's no way the organization thinks only in terms of JUST beating the steelers. savage has been clear, we have to win within our division. we only won one game in our division last year. the steelers are the team to beat... i'm thinking you might be reading into this to much...

i don't think that's the case... we're looking at our weaknesses from last season and building from there... i think we made productive free agency and draft pick acquisitions... the only emphasis we're putting on the 41-0 whoopin' is that we don't want it to happen again this season... we're not trying to find players to counter ONLY the steelers... we're trying to find players who will help us win more games.

The Browns and Steelers are an old time rivalry. They always have the Steelers on their mind. Actually I think they are building in our image. Their selections were all players that fit the "Steeler" model.

I agree that the Browns have been very productive this off-season, and I'm very much looking forward to them being a team to be reckoned with in the AFCN. Although the 41-0 whoopin' of the Browns this past year was a nice Christmas present for the Steelers and a great game for us to enjoy on Christmas Eve, it wasn't much of a game. I personally enjoy a good, well played game by both teams, although sometimes it is nice to have a game that Steelers fans can relax and enjoy stress-free, as well as make fun of their crazy fans who run out onto the field...(lol).
