Steelers vs Packers
Packers - at +3
Steelers - more experence at Super Bowl
Steelers - edge in running the ball
Keys to game - Steelers defence gets pressure on Rogers!
- Ben's ability to improvise/extend the play
- the "tas" factor/Troy makes a big play
- Aaron Smith plays some "inspirational to Steelers players"

Two great Defences!
Which team gets field goals unstead of touchdowns?
Which team turns the ball over?

Steelers 27
Packers 24
in overtime/Packers get the ball first/punt to Steelers/Steelers grind out enough yards for a 47 yard field goal!

I'm not buying the media hype about G.B. and their O. That's just the media trying to get people to bet on the least likely scenario(just like they did before our last 2 games), which is Green Bay and over. Look at the numbers and you'll see that Green Bay's O doesn't do well in first time match ups against defenses who gave up less than 20.0ppg this year(regular season rankings). One of those D's is Chicago's, who gave up 17.9ppg. and G.B.'s O didn't do good in all 3 games against them scoring 17, 10, and most recently 14 points on offense. Against the Jets, G.B. had 9 points of offense. They didn't do good against Atl until the second time they played them, and let's face it, ATL is HORRIBLE at pressuring the QB so it's not all that surprising that the Packers would adjust to them pretty easily.

Anyway, I'm not expecting a big game from the Packers offense, though I realize I'm in the minority. Combine that with us being able to run the ball on the league's 18th ranked run defense and I think the Steelers will control the game and win 28-13, 3.5 points under the line.

Within the first 5 minutes of the game, the Packers realize that playing in the NFC is a cakewalk compared to the AFC. ARod is no competition for the nasty D that dumps his ass on the turf continuously. After a mind boggling shut out win of 31 to 0, Steelers win their 7th trophy. The girl in Georgia feels a unrelentless need to come clean and releases a statement to the media that she was a willing participant in the George gate incident that took place last year. Ben is voted MVP of the Super Bowl and his name cleared!

I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Steelers have something like a 21-7 lead most of the game, then let up a couple quick scores in the 4th to make it a game, with the final score being like 24-17 or something similar.

Would be nice for a blowout like the Tampa game, though.

I just don't think the Packers can beat a Steelers team that feeds off of one dimensional teams. They will get a couple, but it won't be no shootout.

Two thoughts first come to mind before making my pick:

#1 - The Pack have yet to trail by more than 7 points during the entire 2010 season

#2 - Overtime has not been used yet in the playoffs, and knowing our luck, this could result in an overtime game, with us winning after not getting the ball first so that the haters can say we don't deserve it

No overtime, our D and running game dominates their's, Hines has a big game, Ward, Troy, and Ben grasp their HOF spots while the argument for Tomlin's future HOF status begins and I'm saying 35 - 24, Steelers bring home #7!!!!!!!

I think the Steelers win a 24-20 nail-biter that has the Packers getting the ball last and Pittsburgh's D shutting them down. I found this great article that talks about the Steelers' chances of winning the Super Bowl, and it supports my theory that it will be a close game that neither side will really control. Here it is:

I've ordered my Wise Potato Chips, my Steelers M&M's, and wish I could get some Primanti's shipped out to CA for the game. All these will taste so much better with a 31-17 victory. Get a lead and don't let up like we did against the Jets. There is no tomorrow to play for, which is what I believe happened last game. Play 60 minutes, play within the system, and we'll be fine. And Kemo, no stupid diving onto the pile crap like you did against the Jets. Moron.

I'm predicting the first OT Super Bowl ever. I'll even go further, I foresee a 23-23 tie and the end of regulation, the Packers win the toss, and take the ball. They move inside the Steelers 20, then the Steelers defense stiffens, Woodley or Harrison get a sack and make it a tough fg. But alas, Robbie gould nails the 45 yarder. But being as the Steelers have held the Packers to just a fg, they get their chance too. Big Ben drives the Steelers down the field, beats the Packers secondary over the top with a pass to Sanders that gets us inside the 10, and Rashard then burrows his way in on second down for the win!

Steelers 29-26 in the greatest Super Bowl ever!

Good imagination huh? :chuckle:

GB, the Packers weren't exactly worldbeaters this year. 10-6, that's only one more win than the 2008 Cardinals and 3 less than the Seahawks of 05. Plus outside that remarkable win at Atlanta the Packers didn't exactly blaze through the playoffs. If David Akers doesn't miss those field goals, who knows where that game goes? And you certainly had some trouble closing out the Bears.

Not exactly team for the ages material as far as I can see.

Statistically the two defense were very close, the 2008 team was slightly better in yards allowed, but this year's defense was better at forcing turnovers. But overall I think this year's defense is a bit faster and more athletic. The difference in this year's defense's favor imo is that Woodley is a more complete player than he was in 08, and Timmons in place of Foote is a huge upgrade in talent.

The NFC was weak that year. Really Seattle was the only good team. Carolina was decent but they got blown away in the title game against them. The AFC was tough that year. No offense to you guys but it looked like the Colts or the Bengals were going all the way that year. The Broncos were so overrated that year it wasn't funny. That was a great run by Pittsburgh that year. I hope we can complete our run this year like you guys did in 05 by winning the super bowl.

This game will be uglier than the SB win over the Seahags. Neither team will have great stats, and both QB's will get the crap knocked out of them. I think it comes down to a late pick by Troy, caused by blitz dialed up by LeBeau, to give the Steelers the ball and a game clinching field goal. Green Bay gets the ball back and scores a TD late, recovers an onside kick, but the rally falls short as Rodgers is picked off at the goal line... Steelers 33 Packers 31 Book it!!! Immediately following the pick, Emergency Rooms will be flooded with heart patients and anxiety attacks by fans from both teams!!! This game will come down to the last play!!!

actually that's not true, Peter King picked the Packers and Steelers in the super bowl, then flipped late toward the playoffs and put the patriots over the steelers.

also, the Packers were picked to compete for the NFC North with the Vikings, and many had them winning it over the Vikings (bears weren't on anyone's radar and lovie was on the hotseat when the season started)

So its not like you guys are the Cheifs this season and "shocking" the world. Or heck, the Cardinals even of two years ago. Lots of people liked "the Packers" this year.

not over looking the Packers at all...but actually seeing them for what they are. They pass the ball a ton, barely have a running game worth a crap, going against the best Run Defense in the League, they don't win when losing at halftime, look it up, I've posted it multiple times already, they don't win "close" games, they get out big and hold on or they lose. They don't "grind it out" or "find ways to win". The get up early and that's their entire M.O.

that's it. Nothing else about them even begins to impress me. Once they get out big, they go into a Nickle Defense (which is why Woodson leads the Packers in tackles) and just play pass defense and blitz a lot. That's it. They don't play well in slug it out games at all. they have 6 losses this season for a reason. They aren't world beaters and I honestly think the week off actually hurts their "hot team" status.

Packers score a TD in each quarter. Steelers lead early 21-14 at half. Score another TD in the 3rd quarter, to take a 28-21 lead into the 4th. This is a bad matchup for the Steelers . I think they could have beaten Chicago had the Bears won the NFC Championship game.. But I don't see them beating Green Bay under ideal passing conditions, with the way Rodgers is playing.
