Here we go...How nervous are you and what are you feeling? Being the underdog has taken some pressure off of me. I'm a little more relaxed. I'm still not fully confident though.

I am feeling pretty confident in our chances of beating the Packers. Though I am prepared for this game to take us on a roller coaster of emotions and for the game to comedown to a last minute drive by one of the teams.

I have every confidence in the Steelers, but I'm not counting out GB. While I have every confidence that we will win, I'm just keeping an open mind about the fact that the NFL and Goodell will try and screw the Steelers majorly on Sunday.

Nice poll SK, but weirdly I feel that two options are very very possible.

1: It is real close, really close, the whole way. We can run it on them but struggle to pass and convert in the red zone, while they just come out firing in the air and occasionally gouge our 2ndary. They win, barely.

2: We absolutely cream them in all phases and smash them by 15 points.

With all of the talking heads BS - which of these is the REALITY? I just don't know!

I feel the same way. If we get a big lead, I don't think Rogers will have the confidence to bring them back for good.

I have a feeling we will be losing at some point though. If they take a lead, it might help if they try to run the ball which they will not be able to do.

I voted Steelers 60%

Here's how I feel:

It's the end of a horror movie, and you're fairly certain Jason Voorhees (in this case the Packers) is dead. So you walk over to check the body, but you think that bastard can pop up at any minute and still be alive.

So 60-40.

I most definitely feel completely different about this SB then I have about the previous games. Numb would be the best way to describe my confidence level. I'm as antsy as hell. I'm jacked up for the game....but I really do not have any feeling about this mathcup.....good or bad. I really don't know what to think. I think part of the problem is I never really felt this team played like a SB team. We most definitely were capable.... we showed moments of greatness on defense. But I can't think of a single game were we played a full 60 minutes of steeler football. Just like the Packers....we've been inconsistent....even though we managed to pull out a lot of close games. Some of those games shouldn't have been close but we won.

Inconsistency breeds doubt. You can say the same about both teams.

I will say the style that we won the past two playoff games does make me think this is a team of destiny. I don't think the packers win either of those games against the Jets and Ravens. no way. I live in Wisconsin so I have a pretty good understanding of the packers game.

Yeah. It's that Atlanta game tat has me nervous. The way the Packers played against Phili and Chicago wasn't that great. The Steelers would have come back in both those games.

Dom Capers is acting all confident. Tomlin sounded like the have something to handle the 4 WRs. I hope it is not the dime. I don't want to see Madison on the field if ti is not special teams. Stick with the nickel.

I can't wait...but part of me likes being the underdog.

i really think atlanta was not as good as their record showed
a little oaverrated just like chicago, i think that if Akers(and i hope his doughter kicks the shit out of that cancer) would've had his mind on the game
the outcome of that game could have been very different
a really like our chances :tt03: :tt03: :tt03:

I agree...I feel slightly more confident than I did against NY, and a lot more confident than I did against Baltimore. The NFC is not nearly as impressive as the AFC overall, and I think we'be beaten 2 better teams than GB in the playoffs just to get here.

Wow, really? I was feeling confident (but nervous) against Baltimore and I had definite confidence against the Jets. I was already thinking about the SB. I am less confident against GB.

Wow...I hope you are right. I have no problem knowing Ben will have his game in tact. It sucks Pouncey is out. I only worry about Rogers picking apart out D. We really need to hit him hard and often and intercept one ball. That will make him nervous. he's not perfect. he can throw picks and he can fumble the ball when he is sacked. I hope if wither of those happen, the defense runs it in for a score. Don't get so excited that they try to leave it to our offense.

It was interesting that they talked about how the Pack likes to play a nickel defense with only 2 linemen. We could play 3 WR then run on them to force them out of it. With all the talk of their defense, their run defense is #18 which is bottom half of the league.

Rodgers still has not seen Polamalu. Hopefully that will make him nervous like Reed makes people. Troy should help Ike out with Jennings. If Gay can hold down Nelson or Jones, I like our odds if you make Rodgers force it to Driver. Hopefully BMac can handle him. I hope Madison never takes the field. That is an automatic mismatch. They are better off putting Mundy in there if they need a 6th DB.

I am confident that Coach Tomlin has their mind-set where it needs to be at this point. Hopefully they don't watch any of the so-called "experts" on the major networks covering the lead-up to the game. It seems like at least 4 out of 5 "experts" are basically fitting Aaron Rodgers for his crown as the next darling of the NFL, since he can "get out of Favre's shadow" with a win...and then the GB defense with their "rising stars" in Matthews and a few others, that will just decimate the Steelers' patch-work O-line. And then, the Packers receiving corp...their group pales in comparison to those of the Ravens, whom we've dealt with three times this year. Just play the game already...I am so sick of hearing how GB is going to shock the football world, even though they are nearly 3 pt favorites. May Debo and Woodley meet at the QB early and often, and I think that will pave the way for the 7th Lombardi. Pittsburgh 24-GB 14

Pretty much on the same page as you - I have been very confident about the Steelers chances going into the 6 Super Bowls they won and in their one loss thought Dallas giving 13 points was nuts

How the Steelers lost to New England (could not stop Brady - offense looked completely befuddled) is the one that bothers me. Specifically, Green Bay spreading out the defense on a fast track concerns me - i am hopeful for a win but i think we will know if the Steelers D can handle what Green Bay is going to bring after the first few possessions by aroound 7:20 Sunday night

maybe I'm evil but I am starting to feel a little better with 36 yo Driver ailing from his quadriceps injury and missing practice again. It is only fair since we are missing Pouncey. Now we can just toss gay on him. He certainly won't be outrunning anyone (I hope). I forgot Driver is older. last season he had 15 catches for more than 20 yards. This season, only 6.

Now Bmac can cover Jones or Nelson.

Wallace had 10 catches over 40 yards. Their top 4 WRs had 11. Jennings is by far their #1 guy. If we can shut him down, we have done well. force the other 3 to beat you.

Edit:

McFadden gave up three touchdown passes to three receivers -- Greg Jennings, James Jones and Jordy Nelson -- and also was beaten for pass plays of 27, 28 and 44 yards in Arizona's 51-45 overtime victory. A week later, he was beaten for two more touchdowns in a 45-14 loss to the New Orleans Saints in a divisional playoff game.

Green Bay dosnt have a prayer in hell at running the ball on us. everyone knows that. all they will do is air out pass after pass and Rodgers will more then likely have a decent game but we have known there game plan for 2 weeks now and our DC is way to smart not to plan for this. were going to get after Rodgers and make him throw quick and knock his timing off and i gurentee we get at least 2 picks.

the steelers on the other hand can throw and run. we will control the clock and wear them down with our smash mouth running style then hit on the deep ball. our defense is going to hit them so hard that there WR's are going to end up like the Jet's and not want to even catch the ball for fear of getting killed

everyone is thinking Packs 35-14 or something but i say the Steelers whoop them 31-17

That might happen. Yesterday I started feeling more confident. Now I'm more 70% 30%.

Everyone tries to scare us with Rodgers yet we won more games than they did so there are ways to stop them. This high powered passing attack was held to 14 points against the bears. It is only the defense which gave them 21.

I can't wait.

You? You have 4 and a slew of titles during an era with no playoffs, racism, and 8-10 teams. Congrats.

This turned out pretty much how I envisioned it.

The terrible patchwork offensive line couldn't stop the bullrush and allowed Ben to get hit as he released the ball causing the first INT. Mendy couldn't hold onto the ball as he was mobbed in the back field as the o line failed once again. Sure, it's his fault that he lost the ball but he should not be getting wrapped up by two guys 3 yards in the back field. The second INT is on Ben. He shouldn't have forced that into double coverage and he payed for it.

On the defensive side, the secondary played just like I expected them to, HORRIBLE. Gay was terrible again and even Ike looked bad at times. Troy was invisible once again as was Clark. They couldn't get much pressure on Rodgers and he picked them apart. If it wasn't for the Packers dropping the ball multiple times, Rodgers could have easily thrown for 400+ yards and 4 TDs.

I believe that the window of opportunity for this team to win another SB just closed tonight. Hines is old. Farrior is old. Troy and Clark are getting up there. Even Silverback and Ike are aging. I think that it will be some time before we make it back to the big show. It will take years to rebuild and it has to start with DBs and o linemen. This team needs to become a complete team to challenge for another ring. That means getting a dominant o line and being able to man cover down the field at times.

I do think we need new CBs and O-line but the O-line wasn't so bad tonight. I hope we will be serious about investing in a CB.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing Butler if he can mix in some new things with Lebeaus plan...maybe some occasional man coverage. Lebeau never adapts and if there is no pressure his secondary is wide open...it was not just players being beat but his scheme being beat.

But surprisingly, I feel alright right now. It was an amazing season. One of the most memorable in Steelers history with the Ben drama, Santonio trade, etc. It's unfortunate that the story didn't have the ending we all wanted, but that's no reason not to be proud of this team's accomplishments this season.
