Did anyone hear anything on what number he's going to take? Or does anyone want to try to guess?

He's going to sport #10. He announced it at his press conference when he arrived in Pittsburgh.

He can wear #10 until the season starts...but the NFL has strict mandates concerning jersey numbers as they relate to football position. He'll probably end up with an 80-something.

he can wear 10. receivers now can wear numbers in the 80s and in from 10-19. Keyshawn wears 19, i believe Scottie Vines wears 10 for the Detriot Lions, a bunch of guys wear #11.

I still think he ends up in an 80, although it looks like I was wrong about some of the numbers.

I do know that Reggie Bush had to petition (and was granted amnesty) the NFL so that he could wear #5 as a RB.

That's awesome. I still have a #10 jersey. I bought a can of black paint and painted over Stewart's name so I wouldn't have to get rid of it. Now I'm glad I kept it.

I thought Wilson wore 80? I know that Burress wears 17 for the Giants.

LOL!! Mine too. :) A little bit of tape and a black marker will fix it up right.

Charles Rogers wears 10 for the Lions. It is 10 - 19 and 80 - 89 ... I am hoping he does wear # 10 so can finally get the bad taste of Kordell out of that jersey. I dont think Bush is going to be wearing # 5 .. he petitioned but i dont think they are going to let him ... They only opened up 10-19 for receivers because so many teams were keeping more of them and with the retiring of numbers... they needed to have another slot of numbers for them. Holmes will hopefully have some better luck with his # 10 so that number doesnt stink so badly in PA anymore.

i'd like to see him wear a number in the 80's, low numbers as a reciever looks odd in pros, looks real good in college tho :P

Steelers rookie wideout Santonio Holmes wore No. 10 during his three days at minicamp, and, if he so chooses, he can continue to wear it for the regular season. Incoming wide receivers are permitted to wear Nos. 10 through 19 and 80 through 89, according to a memo sent to NFL franchises prior to last month's draft. It used to be that receivers could wear Nos. 11 through 19 only if Nos. 80 through 89 were taken. Players currently in the league, however, are not permitted to change from an 80s number.

is anyone eagerly anticipating the #10 kordell stewart flashbacks? :dang: say what you want though, he was a hell of a receiver and runner. (except when the bears kept calling sneak up the middle plays over and over to mask the lack of running backs)

I think the #10 is kinda cool and unique for a full-time receiver... it sounds like this is the first year it has been allowed. Hopefully his play on the feild will make him standout not his number.

Why the hell would a reciever take a QB number?

Yeah, it's almost as crazy as a WR taking a number like 18 or some QB number like that
