in 2005 the bionic glove helped deliver a SB victory. it was a point of contention ever since whether or not ben would go with the gloves.

(this year he rode the bionic shoe all the way to the big game and had some really nice runs.)

i didnt notice the lack of gloves or really give it much thought until phil simms was talking about it in a post game analysis/interview today.

he was almost shocked and couldnt believe or understand why ben went gloveless.

keep in mind phil simms has done a ton of games and sat in a bunch of production meetings since ben has been a rookie (pretty much every nationally televised and playoff game ben has been in since being a rookie.

simms said that just about all the receivers have told him that ben throws a better ball when wearing the gloves.

it is tighter spiral, a quicker rotation, and with much more velocity.

he noticed right away bens passes looked softer and seemed to float a bit.

he thought ben lost a bit of confidence with some of his misfires and started to overanalize and not be as quick with his decision making.

he likened it to when you go golfing and shank a few into the woods on your first hole and those shots stick with you the rest of the round.

i thought it was great analysis.

Let's go to the tape - he only wore the glove on his left (non-throwing) hand in SB XLIII and went gloveless in the Superdome this season

Maybe he was afraid of the glove getting too warm/wet in 72 degree weather:noidea:

IMO his passing mechanics were more screwed up from issues with his foot than whether or not he wore a glove

Like AD said he only had 1 glove on against the Cardinals. The reason he wore gloves in the SB against the Seahawks is because of his thumb issue's. Other than that he only wears the gloves when it's cold.

NFL is going to test its luck with a Snow Bowl by going outdoors to New York in 2014 - given my current opinion of Goodell i hope the game is played in a blizzard

Next year's Super Bowl is at that tropical paradise Indianapolis (indoors with Lucas Oil Stadium) followed by the Superdome in New Orleans

It's a minor thing but Steelers and their fans have not had a great draw for Super Bowl sites that have tourist appeal - Detroit (payoff to auto industry advertisers); Tampa (spread out and certainly not South Beach) and the frozen tundra of Dallas-Fort Worth (some folks I know who went said the Dallas downtown lacked adequate hotel space and it was too spread out even if the weather had been decent)
