BGSU A Dub

Beforre the mods move or lock this... hear me out...

When reading some poster's names I got to thinking: what STEELERS or other inspiration is behind what you made your name?

Obviously, mine is not Steelers related- I am a BGSU Alum and current student and my nickname is A Dub.

What's your story?

I learned-of, and joined, this site shortly before SB40, a time when the Steelers had won 4 Championships in the 1970's ~ after winning the 5th, then 6th Lombardi Trophy, I was encouraged by some here to change my name, but to me, 'the Steelers' will always be the team of my youth that dominated the League, which forced changes to the way the game is played...

Nerd alert!

I used to play in a band called Ceiling Fan. In our early days, I told a pal that we were having a hard time choosing a name for our first cd. He said (at least half mockingly), "Man, you should call it Triple Option, or Dusty Blades."

I immediately pictured Dusty Bottoms from "The Three Amigos" and Jack Blades from Night Ranger. It immediately became my stage name and online moniker.

I saw her lose the first-ever, side-by-side 4-second Top Fuel run at Maple Grove Raceway in 1989 on a hole-shot to Joe Amato, her 4.94 to a slower-but-sooner 4.97

My name has a double meaning. Wallace is obviously a reference to Mike Wallace. But it's also a reference to a character that was mentioned but never shown on my favorite TV show, Lost. The "character" was Wallace 108. The number wasn't part of his name, but a reference to ... oh, nevermind ... it would take about 45 pages to explain. :chuckle:

I got hooked on the team in 1972 and I've been heavily addicted ever since.

My whole family is straight blue-collar and make every single dollar we make honestly and give it all to family, and the Steelers. My dad has been in it all, the booming Steel Mills with 40 years of experience, a true Pittsburgher and PRIDE of working 16 hour shifts 7 days a week to support his family. That's what we're all about and that's what we look for in the Steelers.

My dad is one of the top formemans around in his mill who makes Stainless Steel. So, Stainless for the mill work duties and Still for Stillers.

Correct. He wore it for the preseason of his rookie year. After Chukky Okobi was released, he changed to his college number-56.

As for my name, you all know.

while the subject is broached... can any old-time fan recall Lynn Swann wearing #22 during the pre-season of his rookie year ~ I seem to remember him doing-so, but can't confirm this
