does this thread eliminate auto racing as a sport? or are we just talking about sports most people know?

who was that pitcher who came back from cancer and his arm snapped while he was pitching so loud that they could hear it pop in the press box?

boxing and auto racing dont count because injury IS the game. although i saw a guy, i think it was John Tate, get knocked out so bad that he landed on the canvas side-of-his face first. he was already unconscience and drooling before he landed!

I was at a high school football game a few years back, and we were walking to the concession stands just before halftime. On the final play, the QB decided to run it, and took off outside, toward us. About 25 feet from the sideline, his legs got sandwiched between two diving defenders. He was on the ground screaming, and I could see this yellow/white stump coming out of his calf. Reminded me of that scene from Born on the Fourth of July.

this could go on forever if boxing and auto racing were involved.

how bout greg lloyd breaking b. farves jaw in 95 pre season i believe. knocked him 5 yards backwards. the tape will confim this.

Clint Malarchuk, Buffalo Sabres goalie. His "bib" flipped up, and a player's skate went right across his throat. Blood all over the ice.

I think this one wins, even without pictures.

"An errant Les Bleus stud (rugby) found its way to his groin, where it somehow managed to tear his scrotum, leaving one testicle hanging out."

And the dude came back into the game!!!

The video of the Malarchuk injury is probably the most disturbing thing I've ever seen in sports. You're more or less watching someone die, absolutley horrible.

I think that was Dave Dravecky who was playing for the Padres at the time.

I believe you mean an improvement in the helmets? If so, the helmets are still the same but if you notice some goalies wear a plastic extension on the lower part of the mask to protect their throats (Patrick Roy before he retired for example). It's hard to see Roy's in the picture below because it is clear, but it is visible.

Kendalls ankle....gawd....unreal the fact that he stepped on it again after practically shearing it on the base made it that much more painful to watch. i had never seen the pictures of the goalie getting his throat cut. that was hardcore.

I was at a high school hockey game once and saw a goalie take a puck to the throat.

I remember a high school football game where the reciever dove for a ball and came down on his head.

Joe Theismans leg
Forget who it was for the Pirates, I think it was Jason Kendall a couple of seasons ago, he broke an ankle.

Another bungals superbowl crushed by a bum leg...:dang:

Tim Krumrie

The Game: Jan. 22, 1989, Super Bowl XXIII, Cincinnati vs. San Francisco.

The Play: Bengals nose tackle Tim Krumrie put millions of fans off their nachos permanently with a truly stomach-churning injury. While trying to tackle running back Roger Craig, Krumrie?s left leg snapped like a breadstick, his tibia and fibula shattered in three places. Coach Sam ?Mr. Sensitive? Wyche ran over and yelled, ?Get up, Timmy!?

The Aftermath: The 49ers win with just 34 seconds remaining; it was the closest Super Bowl ever. After having a 15-inch rod placed in his leg, Krumrie returned to football the next season, but he never came back to the Pro Bowl or the Super Bowl before retiring after the 1994 season.
