Tom Brady was brought to tears during an interview about his draft-day fall in 1999 for an ESPN documentary set to air Tuesday.

"The Brady Six" explores how all NFL teams passed on Brady for 198 selections -- including the drafting of six other quarterbacksbefore the New England Patriots called Brady's name at the 1999 event

Brady sat for an interview with NFL Films' Steve Sabol to discuss his memories. The three-time Super Bowl winner was visibly emotional as he recalled the frustration of the rounds passing without his selection and the support his parents offered him that day. (See video of the clip below.)

"It was hard," Brady said. "I remember taking a walk with my dad and mom around the block ..."

(A choked-up Brady sniffles, with his eyes reddening.)

"Sorry about that.

"Finally when the Patriots called, I was so excited. I don't have to be an insurance salesman, you know."

The tears start around the 1:20 mark - WTF?

It's good to know that he cries just as much off the field as he does on the field. :chuckle:

Maybe a fanbase that has spent the last decade rooting for Hines Ward should refrain from making fun of other teams' players for crying.

Maybe a Pats fan should refrain from commenting on Hines Ward given his cheating "dynasty" crybaby QB dances like a dweeb.

Wow! Some of you guys still can't admit the better team won. You have to cling to this idiotic cheating nonsense. For Christ's sake just man up. Even your own coach (Cowher) admitted the Spygate thing is complete horse shit

Your team is competing for titles and Patriots have devolved into a team that isn't talented enough to even get out of the first round. Belichick lost his mind years ago. He has insisted on hiring from within rather than hiring qualified coordinators and has made it his personal mission to destroy the Pats front seven- ensuring they can't stop anybody. His 2011 draft was a giant middle finger to Patriots nation. And to be honest, by day two I wasn't even pissed. His ineptitude was that damn funny.

None of you guys have to worry about the big bad Patriots stealing your lunch money anymore. I would think you would be happy. Instead you are still petty and jealous.

Unreal.

Check most of the draft threads around here and you'll read the exact opposite. Brady is going to personally shred our horrible defense and knock us out of contention next year. In fact, we'll be lucky to get in as a wildcard due to our porous secondary. LOL

Ummm - seems to me there might be a difference between crying immediately after a game (or not getting picked until the 6th round when it happens) and shedding tears over it 10 freaking years later at a time you subsequently have won 3 Super Bowls, are rich beyond your wildest dreams, and are married to a supermodel

As far as the "petty and jealous" crack, you are the petty one trolling on an opposing team's board.

As far as the "jealous" goes, get over it - Steelers have won 6 Super Bowls, 2 of which are since your team won it's last one - hard to be jealous given the facts.

Some of us just do not like your cheating coach and a QB who often acts like he is God's special gift to the world

See, the difference is, Hines was crying over losing a dear friend and teammate...this was after thinking that he (Bettis) was going to retire after they (the team) fought so hard to get him to the Superbowl (the only one Bettis would have played in). This was also after a tough AFCCG loss.

Tom Brady got choked up about thinking he wasn't going to get drafted (after he was already drafted to play catcher in the MLB). Him crying "I'm so excited, now I don't have to be an insurance salesman" is bullshit. He had plenty of options straight out of high school.

Mind you, no matter how much I don't like him or the team he plays for, that's great that he went for his dream and obtained it...but he makes it sound like being an insurance salesman was his last option outside of football.

He's a great player, but that "woe is me" story is just ridiculous.

All I was saying is that it seemed a little childish to me,in 2011, to make fun a dude for crying. It's probably something I should have kept to myself.

I just didn't realize there was so much hatred for Brady here. I'm not going to throw him under the bus- he's won my team 3 rings. But he does seem a little fake. And I can see where that would turn some people off. Hell, even as a Pats fan I find some of his screaming at teammates a little annoying. Especially when two passes before that he threw a ball at some guys feet or six yards over his head.

The thing is, if Brady were a Steeler and Big Ben were a Pat most of you would admire Brady's "fire and competitve spirit" and you would despise Big Ben. That's what being a fan is about. We are all biased to a certain extent. I can't stand the Ravens . There's nothing wrong with disliking another team or player. I just think it makes people look really petty and foolish when they talk about the Patriots "cheating" Maybe it's not my place to say that, in Steelers forum. But that's just the way I feel. I wasn't trying to stir shit , troll or piss anyone off.

So it wasn't really cheating?:noidea::sofunny:

New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick was fined the NFL maximum of $500,000 Thursday and the Patriots were ordered to pay $250,000 for spying on an opponent's defensive signals.

Commissioner Roger Goodell also ordered the team to give up its first-round draft choice next year if it reaches the playoffs this season, or its second- and third-round picks if it misses the postseason.

"This episode represents a calculated and deliberate attempt to avoid long-standing rules designed to encourage fair play and promote honest competition on the playing field," Goodell said in a letter to the Patriots.

cheat
act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage;
gain an advantage over or deprive of something by using unfair or deceitful methods; defraud:

http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/cheat?view=uk

Belichick and the Pats were sanctioned for what is clearly defined to be cheating

If you want to claim "everyone does it" or "it was a stupid rule" go for it - but have the stones to admit .what your team did, especially if you want to come on to a site for another team to peddle any inference that what the Pats did was anything other than a pattern and practice of knowingly violating establsihed rules to gain a competitive advantage

So then what's your problem with us disliking Brady or the Patriots?

I just think it makes people look really petty and foolish when they talk about the Patriots "cheating".

Why? It's the truth. Spygate obviously sticks in your craw, as well it should. That's not our problem, it's yours.

I've grown up hating Tom Brady when i was 7 he beat for the first time in the AFC Championship game when Kordell was the QB (maybe i actually think Brady got hurt in that game and Bledsoe came in), then he beat us Ben's rookie year from then on Brady is the most hated player in my book right before Terrell Suggs
