Question for Contractors

I think we have a few contractors on here... So I'm looking to get some carpentry and painting done on my house. Working with a contractor that I've used in the past. They offered a discount for paying in hard cash. I paid them with a check last time. So my question is, should I go cash or check? If I go cash, I should still expect the same paperwork (receipt, guarantee, etc), right?

Depends on the discount? Make sure you get everything in writing first, guaranty of work and what exactly needs/is getting done. Get all receipts to cover your ass so they can't say you didn't pay and put a lean on your house. Mostly get everything in writing/contract with receipts so you have something to fall back on if something goes wrong.
