Despite speculation to the contrary, 36-year-old offensive tackle Flozell Adams doesn't plan to retire -- or take a backup role -- any time soon.

Adams, who will enter the final year of a two-year contract with the Steelers, plans to return to the defending AFC champions, his agent told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

"Flo is planning on playing," Adams' agent, Jordan Woy, told the newspaper via email Friday. "We will need to talk to Pitt (once the lockout ends) and determine his role and if it will be with the Steelers."

The Steelers likely will pursue a tackle in next week's draft, but that doesn't rule out Adams' spot on the offensive line, according to the Post-Gazette.

Adams has started 194 of the 198 games in which he has played since the Dallas Cowboys selected him out of Michigan State in the second round of the 1998 NFL Draft. The Cowboys released Adams last year to avoid paying his $6.5 million salary for 2010.

Glad to hear it. I think Flozell played well last year. Getting 1 more year out of him would be a plus. Colon is a ? with his health and contract. Play Flo and draft his replacement. Move Colon to RG if you can.

Flozell had a great year last year and played amazing in the Super Bowl. His penalties where down from the previous year (he spent with the Cowboys) and in the Super Bowl they averaged just over 6 yards a carry running to his side. He is a big upgrade in my opinion over Colon and it is good to see him stick around another year.

Last time a longtime vet stuck around like this...Jerome Bettis. We all know how that ended.
