The only one I don't really care for is Gilbert. But now that he is a Steeler I hope he turns out to be a great pick. :helmet::tt03:

I would give the Heyward pick an A, the Gilbert pick a C, and the Brown pick a B-. I think Davon House would have been a better fit for us and had more upside than Brown, but I guess the FO went with Brown as he was a much "safer" pick for a position we need desparately. Oline is a need but Im not very high on Gilbert, but maybe he'll play well with Pouncey since they've played before who knows.

Makes me wonder if they asked Pouncey about Gilbert sometime over the last few days.

Heyward was a very solid pick at 31. You can't go wrong with a kid as good as him, especially when Aaron Smith and Brett Keisel are up there in age. Just youtube his Sugar Bowl performance. I can't wait to see him in black and gold.

Picking Gilbert wasn't a bad decision because of the need at OT. He also could become a decent starter.

Before the draft I wanted Aaron Williams but after today I'm glad it turned out the way it did. I did not think we would be able to get Brown in the 3rd when we took Gilbert in the 2nd. When our pick came up I was hoping they would take him. His cover skills are already great. If he bulks up a little he could be a very good cornerback in our defense. He is my favorite pick so far.

To be honest, I wasn't thrilled with the Heyward pick. Not disappointed, just not thrilled. Same with Gilbert. But I really like the Brown pick. And now that I look at all three rounds together, I like it a lot.

That's why they get paid the big bucks to make the decisions, and we get paid nothing to second guess them. :chuckle:

a month ago almost everyone here was crying for a CB in round 1 (Williams) and seemed to think i was a moron for saying we would go defensive line. there wasnt a corner worth drafting in round 1 once Smith was gone and Hewyard was the BPA by far. i love the pick and think that between Hewyards and Hood we will have the best defensive line in the NFL for years to come.

Gilbert is a decent pick but he may end up playing guard. he may be able to play RT but i think he is way to slow to man the left side

Brown is a major work in progress. he definatly has all the tools but is very raw. i wouldnt mind taking the other Brown from Texas as well

Chris Culliver , DeMarcus Van Dyke, Johnny Patrick , Shareece Wright, and Curtis Marsh all taken in the 3rd before we took Curtis Brown. Brown was still rated higher by Mel Kiper and Mike Mayock though. Was hoping for Brown or Burton but I think Brown's experience against better opponets gave him the edge. Like the draft so far. Give me another DB, NT, K, TE or LB I'll be happy.

Heyward should do very well in Pittsburgh and has played in a system that has similarities to the Steelers D. Gilbert has the potential to make a great tackle. He did well in college even though he was moved to almost every position on the O-line. Imagine what he can do if the Steelers leave him at one spot (which they have to stop playing musical chairs with that O-line if they really want to see it solidify). I really don't know much about Brown. Something tells me he was just the best CB they could take at the time and that's after a big run on CBs.

All-in-all I think the Steelers are having another typical draft for them. They tend not to draft the guys that Mel Kiper hypes, which makes a percentage of fans second guess the decision making. Then in 2 or 3 years these early round guys are making the plays that win ballgames. I think the consistency of Colbert, Tomlin and Lebeau ... they are making their early round draft choice count for this team.

That was an impressive performance and to think he played half that game with a blown out elbow. And he was whipping their ass from the right, from the left and up the middle.

I think he still played the whole game hurt so that shows that he Is tough perfect for the steelers.

I thought the Gilbert pick was right about where he was projected to go and should be good enough at RT. Maybe he develops ala Starks and starts out at RT and moves to LT after 3 or so years. The Brown pick is fantastic. 39.5" vertical is just insane. 4.5 speed isn't great, but the experts say he is more quick than fast. I'm sure the coaches can get him stronger. Overall, not a mind blowing draft, but solid. Another outstanding Rd 1 guy, IMO.

Eagles just took Alex Henery so we will probably be keeping Suisham another year.

Jerrell Powe is still on the borad (I think), wouldn't mind him or Davon House as our 4th rounder.

I also kind of hope we take Mark Herzlich at some point, I think he'll regain his form in a few years and be the first round talent he once was. He could be a steal.

Also wouldn't mind Rashad Carmichael at some point, he fell pretty far because of a nagging injury but at one point he was a second round prospect and cornerbacks out of Virginia Tech tend to turn out pretty well.

Damn Houston Texans took Carmichael. I think the Steelers wanted him too, because they took a long time almost all 5 min to pick Cortez Allen and they usually get their pick in pretty quick. Cortez Allen if developed looks pretty good though. Don't mind the pick.

Don't the Eagles have David Ackers???? What the hell they doing taking Henery in the 4th????

Marucs Cannon just picked by Patriots in the 5th.

NTs in the 5th for the Steelers?

Yeah the eagles are stupid for that pick a kicker is not worth a 4th round pick not even a 5th round pick
