unlike all other major sports all star events, the race at charlotte is definitely balls out. while all other sports play to not get hurt, or to just have fun, these nascar drivers crank it up a notch. with a million bucks on the line, would you expect anything less?

humpy wheeler picks carl edwards. i like the pick. logically its almost impossible to pick against johnson but picking him is rather boring and easy. after seeing wheeler on gordons nuts for years im suprised to see him pick against hendrick. id say any rousch car (besides mcmurray) can win.

also, kyle petty has got to be a shoo-in to win the fan vote. his sponsors are gonna donate beacoup bucks to the victory junction gang camp if he is voted in. then again the fans love truex (and his DEI connections) too.

thumbs down to the rain too.

I should be there now...

The All-Star race is fun to watch...it's all about the money, so anything could happen...I think it was last year where Brian Vickers just totally booted Mike Bliss to win the race...

That was a terrible race. Crash crash crash. The 600 will be lucky to have 5 cars running at the finish.

well i had riggs, petty for the open, and gordon in 3rd. good pick shimmy. picking the 600 will be the easiest call of the year. and i agree, repaving the track will probably cause more than 40 cautions. probably be less than 10 cars on the lead lap when all is said and done.

when is someone gonna knock tony stewart the f--- out. i nominate kurt busch. if he does he will trully inherit the coolness of driving the blue duce. ryan newman drove a hell of a race with a pretty poor car. not that hes ever had maturity issues but since talledega he has really been a pacifist on the track which is giving him some good finishes. jr. has been driving the same way. cool, calm, and collected. stewart is a yahoo. its time for another veteran to put him in his place. (i nominate jg- well see at the road courses or indy)

I think Tony Stewart is on steroids. Or he eats too many Whoppers. Either way, he is in dire need of a workout regime, as well as anger management classes.

i heard theyre increasing the size of the greenhouse of the cup cars, just so they can fit the defending champs head through the drivers side window.

SteelerzGirl

Well we won't have to worry about the defending champ's big ego next year since Jimmie will be next year's defending champ.

In the meantime, I'm all for someone knocking the snot out of Stewart...(lol). I nominate Matt Kenseth.

Congrats, SG, on your boys win. I think someone else is gonna win the 600 this week though...there's an awful lot of tension between some of the guys who will inevitably be running up front, and I think we're going to get a "Big One" next weekend when tempers flair, and it's going to take some of the normal contenders.

but anything can happen on any given race. just ask barbaro. i do expect "the big one" too. theres just too many unknowns with this new tire and pavement. hell, the day before the all star race, jimmie was saying he could barely drive his car.

600 miles says he won't...he'll run up front, but that's where the trouble is going to be I think.

600 miles says he won't...he'll run up front, but that's where the trouble is going to be I think. depends whos up there with him. for instance, him and gordon race eachother like a bar of "irish spring". but kahne showed even the fastest cars can slip up. jimmie has a knack of not being bitten by the bad luck bug though.

Thanks, Suit. I'm taking Jimmie to win in his house. I would be foolish not to after the way his car was runnin' this past Saturday night. We'll just have to wait and see what happens. I won't get to watch the race probably anyway. I'm leaving for the beach in Ocean City, MD, this Saturday afternoon for a week, although I may try to catch it at Buxy's Salty Dog Saloon. The guy who owns it is originally from Johnstown, PA, and there's Steelers, Pirates, Penguins, Johnstown Chiefs, etc., stuff everywhere. It's home away from home...(lol).

if last week was bad with 15 of the 20 teams being the best in the sport, its gonna be hell when you throw in another 23, short on talent, equipment, or support.
