Reports: Myron Cope Hospitalized
(KDKA) PITTSBURGH Legendary Steelers Broadcaster Myron Cope is reportedly in the hospital this morning.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports he was hospitalized yesterday, but there’s no word on his condition.

Cope, 77, retired from the broadcast booth last June, after 35 years as a color analyst because of health problems.

He is known for his high-pitch shrieks and catch phrases and the famous Terrible Towel he invented.

Last November, Cope was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame.

Yea it sucks that Cope wasn't in the both for the Super Bowl. But I'm just glad the Steelers finally won that one for the thumb and Myron was alive to see it.

I was hoping this would say something along the lines of "Myron Cope is back in the booth," much to my dismay he's in the hospital again.

Good luck to Myron and the rest of the Cope family.

Myron Cope hospitalized
Sunday, May 21, 2006

Retired Steelers broadcaster Myron Cope is in UPMC Presbyterian with a recurrence of pneumonia, according to his friend Joe Gordon, the Steelers former public relations director.

Mr. Gordon said Mr. Cope has had pneumonia "off and on for four months" and entered the hospital on Thursday.

He said Mr. Cope expects to be in the hospital for three or four days and that his condition had improved as of last evening.

About 10 days ago, Mr. Cope said he was recovering from his second bout with pneumonia, but Mr. Gordon said it flared up again.

Wow, I sure hope Myron can recover from the pneumonia. It's not good for someone his age when pneumonia settles in. My thoughts and prayers are with him and the entire Cope family.
