jimmie johnson. need i say more? he is most likely to win this race. but that dont mean he will. practice and qualifying suggest that jeremy mayfield is the sleeper in this race. riggs is on the pole showing the muscle flex of team evernham. kahne has a top 10 starting position too. i will be watching 3 roush cars. biffle, martin and of course kenseth. newman, biffle, and earnhard have all been on hot streaks here recently but im thinking only biffle has a shot to translate that into a win. martin doesnt have the greatest starting position but in a 600 mile race, with his veteran savy, you cant count him out. bobby labonte leads my list of sleepers, with mayfield 2nd. and "c" drivers riggs, and jeff green really should be "b" drivers. both easilly have a shot at a top 10. predicting the top 5 is hard but the top 5 most likely to win are:

1. jimmie johnson
2. greg biffle (im expecting a strong run and the bad luck streak to wane)
3. matt kenseth.
4. mark martin
5. jeff gordon
6. kasey kahne

hard to go against dale jr. or even #29 being in the top 6. i hate to go against penske but it will be a succesful day if even one of them finish in the top 10. and what about tony stewart? well, he will probably win the whole damn thing. he seems to respond well to adversity and the way he flew off the handle last weekend annd wrecked in tonights busch race you can call that adversity. he very well could be a winner but if i posted the top 6 in the points standings, it wouldnt be that challenging. labonte is easilly capable of posting a top 10 finish, and i think denny hamlin can too. mayfield just seems like he will be bitten by bad luck.

I'm not saying who I picked, because every time I do, they all wreck or blow up...

i hear ya not wanting to jinx yourself. but usually most of who i think has the best shot of actually winning the race are "a" drivers anyways. if i jinx jimmie by picking him so be it. i hardly ever think a "c" driver is gonna finish in the top 4. many times who i pick in this thread doesnt correspond with what i do in fantasy (too much strategy involved).

I think JJ's luck is finally going to run out tonight...but I still picked him as my A driver.

I think JJ's luck is finally going to run out tonight...but I still picked him as my A driver. as did everybody else. there will not be much points gained or lost in fantasy nascar this week (except maybe for those who started dj. when it becomes interresting is when we all run out of jj, dale jr. jj yeley, and k. kahne starts for the year.

id rather take a jj top 5, and see him lose anyways.

Yeley is the only guy I've started more than 3 times...I spread the starts around, especially early on.

shooting ones wad early is definitely not the way to go. especially when you can only start a driver for 1/4 of the races.

i expect matt kenseth to wreck now along with stewart. jj may not win but his luck definitely wont run out

Yeah, it's pretty cool...I just hooked up a 700W 5.1 digital surround sound system, and it is pretty awesome when you can hear the cars BEHIND you...

700w is what you call thumpin. aint nothin like watching a race when it sounds like youre in the infield (unless youre actually at the track of course.)

Yeah, I don't have a sound sysytem... I imagine "Crank it up" is pretty intense.

That caution just hurt me...

Suitanim

There are too many laps left to know that for sure...

I'm running 1, 2, 7 and 27 right now, which, considering my recent finishes, I'd be MORE then pleased with...

My #27 is off the track now, so...

Funny to see Kyle Busch get so upset at something that had absolutely nothing to do with Mears. That's not going to increase his already sucky fan perception...

s. riggs stalls on pit road and then a caution comes out. jimmie johnsons good luck streak is alive and well. he gets to pit under caution as the leader (the final pit stop of the day most likely)

lol... Harvick hurt me this week, for once I would like all four of my drivers to have clean runs. :banging:

i did pretty good for missing the wednesday deadline. good thing i had kahne, green, and hamlin left over from darlington, to use. odd thing is, when i checked my points after darlington i immediately took out biffle and put in johnson cause he was a sure shot. otherwise i wouldve started riggs but probably taken out hamlin and kahne for future use.

my drivers came in 1, 2, 9, and 12.

still as far as my picks in this thread goes i did pretty well too. (except for gordon - hes done) i did accurately pick martin in 4th. too bad i cant rep myself

Good week... thanks. not bad for a fluke. i was kicking myself when i saw we were the only ones not to start riggs, especially after i had riggs to win the open last week, and felt he would do real good this week. i still think riggs and green are the steals of the "c" drivers. they pretty much tore up the busch series (minus k. harvick) when they were full timers.

i could possibly be wrong, but doesnt this suggest that you have started harvick, kahne, and earnhardt jr. more than 3 times?

tony stewart broke the same shoulder sunday that he severely bruised saturday. hes expected to race next week but another shot like that has got to hurt. hell probably be in severe pain just from the g-forces. i wonder if hes gonna start to slide.

I was talking C drivers...I think there's plenty of talent to go around in A and even B (i.e. I've only started Stewart once, because he traditionally gets hot in the 2nd half of the season).

The C drivers list is VERY shallow...I mean, outside of Riggs and Yeley (and a few ringers for road courses) there really isn't a single driver on the list even capable of winning.

take out scott riggs missing daytona and i think that leaves only 4 "c" drivers who have even started every race. then theres probably 3-4 "b " drivers who
will probably never sniff a start with the likes of jr, kahne, etc. that would be better off in the "c" class.

I don't like how they set the drivers this year...I'm pretty sure it was based almost exclusively off the Daytona Results. Regardless, I'm expecting to get almost zero production from my C list drivers in the second half of the season.

Well, that explains the complete suckiness of the C list...
