In the first series of the Steelers (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/teams/page/PIT)-Redskins preseason game Friday night, CB Ike Taylor (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/396097) -- who was one of the Pittsburgh’s biggest free agent (re)signings (http://eye-on-football.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/22475988/30902594) -- broke his thumb and left the game for good.

http://sports.cbsimg.net/images/football/nfl/players/60x80/396097.jpgBut according to Rapid Reporter (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/rapid-reports/team/PIT) Chuck Finder, the injury isn’t a huge cause for concern. Finder writes that Taylor should be back in time for the Sept. 11 season opener vs. the Ravens (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/teams/page/BAL).

And Finder gets a nice shot in as well. Writes Finder: “For a cover guy known for dropping balls and missing chances at INTs, it shouldn’t alter his game.”

BOOM!

In other Steelers injury news, QB Ben Roethlisberger (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/493043) had to ice his hand and his hip after suffering minor injuries while playing in Pittsburgh’s first offensive series. Roethlisberger also should be fine.

put a cast on that shit, he should be fine by next week, not like he's gonna catch a ball anyway

unless he needs it to heal so he can keep doing the john cena everytime he bats away a pass

The cast should give him more surface area to bat down the balls, not like he'd catch any with those bricks.

What's funny is this shouldn't affect him at all, just put one of those big clubs on his hand and he'll be just as effective. He's not gonna be catching the ints anyway so he just needs to swat them down...if anything it would give him a larger range to tip passes and make him even better...

A giant foam finger that says swagging univeristy to promote his clothing line would work as well.

I do think Ike is overrated by a lot of Steelers fans, but he is good enough to be a #1 CB. Not a GREAT #1 CB, not pro bowl caliber, probably not top 10, but he's not a total scrub either. There are a lot of teams out there with WAY worse starting CBs; not everybody has a Nnamdi or Revis. Saying he should be a #3 is ridiculous. Only teams he'd be a #3 on are the Eagles, maybe the Packers, and MAYBE the Jets (but he would still probably be a #2 there), and thats only because theyre all stacked at the position.

Now, saying Bryant Mcfadden isn't anywhere near being good enough to be a #2 is another story...

For everyone saying he isn't a number 1, etc. If the Steelerts wouldn't have signed him so quickly and for the fact he wanted to stay here, a lot of teams would have been throwing him some good contracts to bring him in as their number 1
