Bengals pick Nicholson, Rouse charged in alleged theftESPN.com news services

Two former Florida State football players have been charged with stealing electronic equipment worth more than $1,700 from the home of a current player, Tallahassee Police told ESPN's Joe Schad on Wednesday.

Cincinnati Bengals linebacker A.J. Nicholson and former wide receiver Fred Rouse, who was dismissed by coach Bobby Bowden at the end of last season for detrimental conduct, are charged with burgularizing the Tallahassee home of current Florida State running back Lorenzo Booker on May 20 or 21.

Rouse confessed his involvement to authorities on May 27, according to police. Rouse was arrested and charged with three felonies: burgularly of a dwelling, grand theft and unrelated possessions of a controlled substance without a prescription, which was esctacy. Rouse has been released on bond.

A police source said that among the items investigators found at Booker's home was a wide receivers' glove with "1," Rouse's former jersey number, stiched into the inside of it. The glove had been left under a color television that had been thrown onto the floor.

A warrant is out for the arrest of Nicholson, who faces felony charges of burgularly of a dwellling and grand theft and criminal mischief, which is a misdemeanor.

"Obviously, Lorenzo's not really happy that his former teammates, Rouse and Nicholson, did this," Tallahassee Police Public Information Officer John Newland said. "This incident occurred May 20 and A.J. was drafted in April. You knew you were leaving. Why would you put yourself through this? It's just really unfortunate."

Entrance to the home was made by breaking a rear window, police said. In gaining entry, the suspects appeared to cut themselves as they left blood and on one of Booker's roommates sheets. Police later found drops of blood at the exterior of the home of Nicholson's girlfriend.

In a sworn, taped interview on May 28, Rouse said Nicholson had entered the home and carried out two portable stereos, a DVD player and a pair of headphones. Rouse also said Nicholson had sustained a substantial cut on a finger.

Nicholson, who was accused of a sexual assault in Miami and sent home from the Orange Bowl, was selected by the Bengals in the fifth round. Nicholson, who has pleaded no contest to a DUI arrest and had another incident with Tallahassee police that led to dropped charges of resisting arrested, has not been charged in the sexual assault case.

Rouse, one of the nation's top freshman prospects last season, and a native of Tallahassee, had only six catches for 114 yards and one touchdown. Rouse also returned 11 punts for 97 yards and six kickoffs for 107 yards.

That's for sure.Disorderly Conduct or Theft?I'll take a player on my team being charged with Disorderly Conduct which is a misdemeanor over Theft which is a felony.

Also,it turns out Santonio was arrested for not following the order of a police officer. The cop told him to get out of the middle of the street when he was crossing the street and he had some choice words for the cop,who was probally in plain clothes so Holmes probally had no clue he was talking to a cop.

This is no surprise at all...Nicholson was a horrible draft pick, a reach at where he was taken, and a HUGE character issue problem to boot. Look, read this again:

"Cincinnati Bengals linebacker A.J. Nicholson and former wide receiver Fred Rouse, who was dismissed by coach Bobby Bowden at the end of last season for detrimental conduct, are charged with burgularizing the Tallahassee home of current Florida State running back Lorenzo Booker on May 20 or 21."

Do you realize how much of a thug you have to be to be released by FSU? By Bobby Bowden? Yet this is the company AJ liked to keep.

This kid is gonna make Chris Henry look like Aunt Bea from Mayberry before his career is over (if he can stay out of jail long enough to actually start a career!)

It's hard to make fun of a team's 5th round pick getting charged for an alleged theft when your first round pick has already been arrested.

Nicholson and Rouse are charged with burglary and grand theft, both felonies. Nicholson also is charged with criminal mischief, a misdemeanor, for damage to the apartment. Rouse also faces an unrelated felony charge of illegal possession of a prescription drug.

Nicholson, who has a history of off-field problems, has participated in the Bengals' voluntary workouts recently.

Florida State suspended Nicholson for the Orange Bowl in January after he took a woman to the team's Miami hotel, a violation of team policy, and she accused him of sexual assault. Nicholson has not been charged in that case.

While at Florida State, Nicholson also was charged with drunken driving, pleaded no contest and received probation. In a separate case, he was Tasered by police after a bar dispute :sofunny: but a resisting arrest charge was dropped.

Rouse was one of the nation's most widely acclaimed prep stars when he signed with Florida State last year. Coach Bobby Bowden dismissed him nearly three weeks after the Orange Bowl for what he called "conduct detrimental to the welfare of the football team."

I didn't say it was worse, I was saying something more along the lines of making fun of Nicholson's arrest would be like throwing stones in a glass house. At least Nicholson was a 5th rounder. :blurp:

Here's some more information. The interesting question now becomes, do the Bengals do the right thing, admit their mistake, and relinquish the draft rights to this lump of shit?

Bengal rookie charged with theft
BY KEVIN KELLY | ENQUIRER STAFF WRITER
Bengals rookie linebacker A.J. Nicholson has been charged with breaking into the home of a former teammate in Tallahassee, Fla., and, with another man, stealing about $1,700 worth of electronic equipment.

Tallahassee police issued three warrants charging Nicholson, a fifth-round draft pick, with grand theft and burglary, both felonies, and criminal mischief, a misdemeanor.

"Our investigators talked to him over the phone (Tuesday) night," Tallahassee police spokesman John Newland said Wednesday. "We tried to get him to come down here to turn himself in and he was reluctant to do that. So we ended up filing warrants for his arrest, which are now in the system."

Nicholson could not be reached for comment Wednesday. Bengals public relations director Jack Brennan said the team does not discuss a player's legal situation until it is resolved in the courts.

Tallahassee police said Nicholson, 22, and former FSU wide receiver Fred Rouse broke into current FSU running back Lorenzo Booker's home May 20 or May 21. Booker found his bedroom window broken after returning home May 21, according to an affidavit filed in the case.

Rouse confessed to police during a sworn, taped interview Sunday, the affidavit states.

"Rouse said he heard glass break and a short time later A.J. Nicholson returned carrying two portable stereos, a DVD player, and a pair of headphones," the affidavit states. "Rouse also saw that Nicholson had a substantial cut on his middle finger, possibly the right middle finger."

Booker told police that Nicholson had lived in the house at one time but was evicted several months ago for not paying rent.

Nicholson, who led the Seminoles in tackles and started 24 games the past two seasons, has been in trouble before.

According to published reports, he was accused of sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman at the Hollywood, Fla., hotel where FSU stayed last December in preparation for the Orange Bowl. Nicholson was suspended from the team and did not play in the game. No charges have been filed.

That incident wasn't his only brush with the law last year. He received six months' probation in August after pleading no contest to a misdemeanor DUI charge. A charge of resisting an officer without violence in June was dropped.

In other news...Chad Johnson, Pro Wide Reciever for the Bengals, is reported to have Al-Qaeda ties through a false charity organization he is using as a front to fund money to Islamic Terror master-mind al-Zawahari.
When confronted with this information, Head Coach Marvin Lewis replied..."Yea...but Santonio Holmes is a Jaywalker"!!

Is it just a coincidence that the bengals wear "orange" and have "stripes"...two things commonly associated with prison uniforms?
