NFL media person to my knowledge to go on the record as saying the Steelers "will not" repeat as Superbowl Champions.
He said this and cited on NFL Total Access last night that the loss of Jerome Bettis's leadership both on and off the field will be too much for the Steelers to overcome.

Something tells me Soloman didn't pick the Steelers to win the Superbowl last year with Jerome on the team and something also tells me he wouldn't have picked the Steelers this year if Jerome was still playing.

Soloman is an ex-Bengal idiot and he can stand at the front of the line of Jerkoff NFL Experts who will dismiss the Steelers winning it again in '06.

I watched that myself, and I cursed the TV. Its one thing to say that tha Steelers will probably not repeat, or to talk about how tough it could be to repeat. But to just say we will not repeat????? Nobody else has the oppurtunity to repeat this season, I like our chances

Thats pretty brave - picking one team out of 32 to not win it all.

There seem to be two types of pundits - ones that make the kind of low-risk non-predictions like the one above and who crow about it when it comes in, and the other that makes crazy-stupid predictions like Cards to win it all - in the hope that one of these crazy ass picks will actually pan out so they can make a living from it.

Get used to people writing off the holders - the majority really of people dont want to see the Champs repeat, which holds true for ANY team in the NFL - predictions like this give the no hopers succour in the pre-season fantasy football stakes.

adam shein picked cinci over panthers (the loss of jerome and el seems to be popular sentiment) and peter king has picked the cowboys over the patriots. its still early. im just glad chris berman finally stopped picking the bills and 49ers.

If this were true then we don't deserve to win another Super Bowl. I really don't get the hyperbole surrounding Jerome. The Bettis lovefest is over and done. Thank you Jerome. But it's over.

Between Hartings, Faneca, Ben and Hines there is plenty of freaking leadership on offense. I'm sure Hartings Faneca and Hines would agree that this is the year that Ben firmly takes control of the reigns in the huddle. Period. Or he's not all 'that'.

The hard and fast reality is that Jerome rushed for about 250 yards. If it were any other player in the league replacing that kind of production with someone who can go 16 games would be considered an upgrade...not the reason a team isn't going to the Super Bowl.

I hear alot of wishful thinking out there.

Wow will he be eating crow when we're lifting our sixth Lombardi trophy!

I loved Jerome,he was the face of this orginization. However,on the field he wasn't a huge contributor. His 9 TD's can be replaced by Duce and/or Haynes taking over the goal-line job.Hartings,Faneca,Ben,Duce, and Ward are all leaders on the offense.

polamalu and porter have both been heard lobbying for goal line carries.

I'd love to see Troy take one in,that'd be fun to watch.

Does he take it over the top or does he run over people?

I could definitely see Troy giving it a shot. The way he flies around, him going over the top into the endzone would be like the second coming of Walter Payton.

I don't know if it's worth risking injury for though.

That would be cool to see but I don't want to chance hurting Troy. Seymour got hurt doing that with the Pats last year. Troy is just to valuable to risk injur with goal line carries.

Does he take it over the top or does he run over people?in the superbowl dvd there is a sideline shot when it is in question if ben got in. cowher says if its no good hes going for it. troy pleads "lemme take it over the top coach".

cowher pretty much ignores even hearing such a suggestion and repeats that he is going for it. it is ruled a td anyways and im willing to bet troy wouldnt have been the call.

cant knock him for lobbying and trying though.

Willcotts is a fool. I don't even pay him any attention. People are over hyping Jerome's leadership. Sure he was a great leader. But Hines Ward is a leader. Alan Faneca is another leader. Plus the most important leader on the team besiders the coach is the QB. Our young QB is ready for the leadership role.

Lets face it the Steelers are never the sexy pick for the Super Bowl. That belongs to the Colts. Now the Bengals for the AFC North. Let them doubt us. We will just have to prove all the doubters wrong again.

I remember seeing that. While it's nice to know Troy has confidence in himself, I don't think the SB is the place to try it out. Although maybe this is a play they've practiced before???

Exactly,we won't be resting on our laurels because the media won't pick us.Cowher and the rest of the team will be using this stuff as fuel to go out and repeat.

But how about this time,we repeat by making everyone come through Pittsburgh?

I really don't see how the Bungles can even pick. Carson probably won't start the season and if he does he'll be rusty and not even closed to a full recovery.

I think you need to bring troy in, send him right with everyone else, then dump the ball to Heath to the left! TD

Doesn't matter, I don't want anybody pickin us to repeat anyway. Only teams that I see having a good chance of winning it next year are: Steelers (I'm not biased, lol) Patriots, Colts, Broncos from the AFC, and Dallas, Seahags, and Panthers from the NFC.

I could give a rats ass what these jabronis in the media pick. They have to say something to justify their paycheck, even if it's verbal diarrhea.

Soloman Wilcotts is also an ex-Steeler. He played for us in Cowher's early years. But you're right, he's an idiot.

That pretty sums it up...lol. I've said it once and I'll say it again. Your better off opening up the yellow pages, picking the first name you see and asking their opinion of what the Steelers will do this season than listening to some of these "experts".

Conversely, I do believe there are some prognasticators STILL picking the Colts or Pats to win Super Bowl 40...

Solomon will be kicking himself. He does forget the Steelers STILL have Joey Porter who is a PROVEN leader, and Big Ben has stepped up more as a leader and Hines has done like wise. The Steelers will be fine. Miami is where we will be February 4, 2007 winning our 6th Super Bowl. First Stop On This Road is in the preseason where we start proving doubters wrong(Ones who don't think they will win the super bowl) against the Arizona Cardinals. One Step at a Time though. And besides whenever Dolphins make mention of their team being so good in my school yearbook saying there gonna win the super bowl. The Steelers win it. Who says after yet the Dolphins fans in Hollidaysburg won't be wrong again. they will be wrong. All these doubters will feel the rath of the 2006 Pittsburgh Steelers

I am pretty sure since this guy said we wont win the SB that we more than likely wont feild a team for game one. I guess we should all just talk about something else until the next year. Man and i bought them tickets to game one I cant belive this guy killed our season with this. :poop: :screwy:

solomon is talking out of his ass. he forgets something, until the champion is beaten from the playoffs the champion is STILL the champion.
