This is Mr. Rooney. "Thanks for being patient with us. We are now ready to sign you for your asking price!" "Thanks Mr Rooney, but that was before tonight's game. I see you don't have many starters, or reserves left. Um, I think I'll take a few more million if you don't mind." "No problem Flozell, I do seem to remember you playing most plays, consistent, if not stellar performance last year.

Unfortunately Offensive Line is a much more important than defensive line right now Mr. Smith. You've been great for the STEELERS, but right now we have an urgent need.

Flozell....please come back.

Raise your hand if you said Jonathan Scott was solid. I literally saw the worst game from a starting LT ever.

Listening to 93.7 the fan right now and one of the guys doesn't seem to think we can afford Flozell.

Well...Gay OR McFadden should be kicked to the curb. Aaron...love ya, but we need to get younger. Mr. Hood can now start.

Hey, who did we draft with that first pick? Have him start next week.

Smith was awful too. He's done.

Yea Smith seems to be all but done..Sad but true, oh well it is a "what have you done for me lately" league and there is a reason we drafted DL in the first 2 of the last 3 yearsdraft

.

you guys do understand the basic premise that even if we cut these guys their salary is still guaranteed and counts towards the cap, right?

football 101.

I wouldn't say solid. But I thought he was adequate. Tonight obviously wasn't that good of a performance.

Think they need Flozell back at RT to help the running game.

I know.

Not serious...just hurting. I didn't know that there was no way the Steelers could afford Flozell right now though.

it been rumored/reported that max starks is down to 335lbs now im all for bringing him in. flozell as well. i wonder if its too late for ben to restructure and shave about 7 million dollars off his salary hit and if it would count towards this years cap.

im thinking that ship has sailed, otherwise he should be the 1st in line.

Not serious...just hurting. I didn't know that there was no way the Steelers could afford Flozell right now though.a few weeks ago adam shefter reported that the steelers were the team with the least amount of cap space available incase of injuries. typically most teams like to keep about 2 million in reserve just for emergencies. after the signing of jamon meredith, i doubt we can even pay the vet minimum for flozell or starks (and thats assuming they wouldnt laugh in the steelers face with that offer).

Steelers aren't doing squat without an offensive line.

Gosh...

They have to do something, this just isn't going to work. We are lucky Ben escaped serious injury let alone got the win. This can't continue, they risking too much, future seasons are now at risk.

I really hope they bring back Flozell. The O-Line had its problems last year but I don't think it was ever this bad. I think Flozell could fix some of the problems they are facing right now.

Yikes - situation is getting dire fast IMHO. Here's what happens when you keep A.Smith for a ridiculous 5 million salary. In hindsight I wish we would have asked Smith to cut back instead of Ben.

either that or he'll continue to be really bad. he hasnt been the same since the tricep injury, that was a career killer

I may be wrong but if a player is on IR, I don't think his salry counts against the cap.

I have to agree that Aaron Smith 's big contract might be better put to use. The young lions time is now go Ziggy go.

Honest mistake, however, it's something the NFL should look at as season ending injuries seem to be common.

2-1 after 3 weeks - you'd think we'd all be a little happy that we have a chance to start the season the same way we did last season.

Just goes to show the dominance we expect out of our beloved black and gold.

Hindsight is everything - but maybe we should have asked Smith to take a cut based on Hood's performance last season instead of asking Ben to restructure? It is easy for me to say from afar - but something has to be done to get another body in for the o-line at some point. Man oh man, can you imagine having to approach Smith "Uh, thanks for all the time and great play you've given us - 2 Super Bowls, some dominant defensive performances, etc, etc - but ya know it is time to move on in another direction . . ."

Some other players wouldn't take too kindly to this kind of situation with Smith.
