I read this in the latest edition of Steeler Digest, and thought it might be interesting to see what you all think too.

If you could pick 1 former Steeler player, current still playing in the league, or retired; to be on our team this year to help us get to detroit, who would it be?

Maybe Mean Joe, Bradshaw, Franco, Lambert, Ham, Kirkland, Chad Brown, Greg Lloyd, Woodson, Lake? The possibilities are virtually endless... who's your choice?

Rod Woodson is the obvious pick, but if not him......

I would take Carnell Lake in his prime and have him play for Hope.

Good post!......

I would take Jack Lambert... just to watch him devour pretty boy Brady and Manning.

I'm going to have to say Lambert or Woodson.

He was the reason for four Super Bowls so he would be the reason for a fifth. The original franchise player...Mean Joe Greene.

Gosh, this is a tough one. I loved Woodson and Lloyd (they are my runners up), but I guess if I can only pick one guy it would probably be Lambert

We need Woodson, but Lambert or Llyodd would be nice.

Also consider too, where we need help at this year, depth wise or starters, and the logical choices for me would be Lloyd to help out at LB, and Woodson to start opposite Deshea.

How about Mel Blount also.

Woodson,he'd just shut down an entire side of the field.

I'd also love to have Lambert and Mean Joe on the team.

On offense give me Swanny opposite Hines.

With the team we have right now I would take Woodson.

In replying to this post, and as I was reading it is very easy to turn this into a "what's your favorite steeler of all time" thread. As much as I would love Lambert in the middle or Mean Joe on the line, or Webster snapping to Roethlisberger, our biggest need right now is CB so I'll go with the concensus at CB and Blount or Woodson... your choice.

I loved the way Kevin Greene impacted on our pass rush and the whole D when he arrived from St. Louis so if it's an impact player coming in (at a position where I think we could do with an upgrade LOLB) it would be him . . . And yes, I know there were probably greater players but for impact it's got to be Kevin for my team . . . I think our corners are going to be just fine this year . . .

Add a healthy Bell in there and that is as bad *ss a linebacking core you would find anywhere.

Yah I don`t think we every got to see everything that K Bell was capable of. When ehe was healthy a few plays here and there, WOW. So put Lambert in there with Green, LLyodd, Porter

Lambert hands down. Just for the fact that he is the ultimate symbol of intimidation. Alot of runners up I like but I have to go way old school dominance at my favorite position. Damn our defense would be sick.

Orpheous Roye/Fred McAfee Roye-the best wedge buster I can remember. I still get nervous after we score watching the kickoff. McAfee cause he seemed to live for special teams. Just thought some other players needed a shout.

Rod Woodson most definitely. He could change the entire complexion of a game. Whether returning punts or kickoffs or interceptions. He's the greatest Cowher era steeler of all-time
