I thought of Mendy when I heard about the death. Hopefully he sticks to football and has another great week as opposed to tweeting about crap he is out of touch with.

I'm sure Gaddafi richly deserved a horrible death many times over, but we don't need anything as speculative as the Lockerbie bombing to make that case. If you read the details of the investigation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pan_Am_Flight_103#Investigation), it's hardly a slam dunk against him. The evidence of his abuse of his own citizens, meanwhile, is irrefutable.

I always though he looked like the a-hole Muslim version of the Village People-- I don't know how anybody could take the guy seriously. Ghadafi always wore those moronic looking outfits with the fruity looking hats and chest-sized collection of military ribbons and commendations he never served a day in his life to earn. For some reason, military insignia and pink robes scream "fashion police".....

Hopefully his 72 virgins have oversized adam's apples, urinary tract infections, and hairy palms.....

But he was a fashion icon

Colonel Muammar Qaddafi—the longest-serving leader in both Africa and the Arab world—has brought color and his own eccentric panache to the drab circuit of international summits and conferences

And he had a crush on ... Condoleezza Rice

Muammar Qaddafi’s crush on Condoleezza Rice is one of the strangest things about him that is not a part of his face. When Libyans raided Qaddafi’s Bab al Azizia palace, they discovered a homemade scrapbook filled with photos of the former U.S. secretary of state. “Yes, Leezza, Leezza, Leezza... I love her very much,” he told Al Jazeera in 2007,...

Rice reveals that Qaddafi “had a slightly eerie fascination with me personally, asking visitors why his ‘African princess’ wouldn’t visit him.

why didn't godaffy ever promote himself to general ? :noidea:

He refused to hear pleas to give up power. He would say, according to Mr. Dhao: “This is my country. I handed over power in 1977,”

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/23/world/africa/in-his-last-days-qaddafi-wearied-of-fugitives-life.html?pagewanted=2&hp

Since he "gave up power" in 1977 I guess he could not get promoted after that point:noidea:
