How nice to celebrate my 1000th post with another positive reading on the Gay Meter.

Another solid game helping the team to another win. I give Gay a +2 score for this game. He played smart, did not have any stupid penalties and occasionally pressured the QB. AS PREDICTED, he has helped more than hurt this team - which is a contrast to what many felt at the beginning of the season.

He faces a stiff test next week against the pass happy Pats and Wes "White Lightning" Welker in the slot.

I will consider it a good game from Gay if he is able to keep Welker in front of him and limit the YAC.

My Steeler kool aid is flowing, glass is more than half full and I welcome the challenge. Bring on the Pats!

Ike had a worse day than Gay for once. How often does that happen?

Gay's been impressive. If he even remotely stops the Patriots next week I will be overjoyed. I'm not asking for a complete shutdown of Tom Brady but just don't give up 3 TD's to a tight end again...

Yeah, that Gay guy is playing well. Haven't heard from his haters in a while, but that's the way it goes sometimes.

i think that is due to who they each were covering

That's the steeler way. Last year, he was giving up free first downs left and right and he really got abused versus the Patriots. The coaches challenged him and he has responded well so far. The key is to not let one bad play discourage him, if you get beat by Welker or one of the TE's for a first down, come back the next play and do your job, don't sulk or get flustered.

i think the steelers switched to more of a man coverage scheme which allows gay to play more to his strengths.

but yes he's played well this year. he did have a better game than ike, but tbh, fitzgerald would give any CB in the league problems, he's that good.

A lot of times, Polamalu and Gay sort of switch places, with Polamalu creeping down and Gay dropping back post-snap to play the cover-2. Don't know how often that will happen this week though with probably a lot of 4- and 5-wide sets. Cortez Allen might see double digit snaps.

Compare apples to oranges much? Ike gives up 3 catches to one of the best WR's in the league and he had bad game accordign to some of you.

I think it was more the two penalties. Not that I disagree with you, I think eh did a nice job covering Fitz.
