It looks like the past couple weeks, Cortez Allen was filling in as the dime db, and I thought he has been impressive. Out of 9 plays last week he was only targeted once for a minimal gain. The previous game he also saw play time and wasn't picked on.

I'm surprised and glad to see that quietly, this kid is contributing in the defense. The biggest surprise to me is that when they go to the dime, Allen, and not McFadden is the extra db in the formation. Also surprising to note that this guy is getting the nod over our 3rd pick, curtis brown. Is this guy some beast in practice that nobody outside of the steelers organization caught onto yet? Also I missed the last preseason game, how good did he look out there? he's obviously impressing the coaching staff enough to get playing time as a rookie, over one of our veterans who has spent years in our system (mcfadden).

Curtis Brown has been hurt I believe. Tomlin mentioned it in his press conference.

havent you heard? tomlin ALWAYS favors the veterans over the younger guys. thats why we constantly are watching mcfadden suck out there, why lewis is rotting on the bench, why we are still holding a roster spot open for a. smith, starting scott over gilbert, and why if ward cant go this week j. crotchsniffer gets the nod in favor of sanders. :flap:

on a more serious note it is strange all these youngsters are getting a shot as back ups but sylvester stevenson isnt.

the only explanation can be he is still struggling with the playbook and his assignments.

on a more positive note, curtis brown is leading the team with 7 special teams tackles. :applaudit:

love to see these kids make the most of their shot when presented with opportunity. E. sanders will be next if ward cant go.

you guys think the bigger corners we have this year (lewis at 6'0 and cortez 6'1) could make a difference in trying to cover the pats' TE's?

william gay on gronkowski was ugly because of the size mismatch, these guys on the other hand aren't as disadvantaged height wise

I wanna see how Keenan Lewis does on Gronk

Lewis typically lines up outside though, so I don't know how often he'll be on him. He'll probably see a lot of Gay again, or safeties. Maybe even Cortez Allen. Allen is one of their taller DBs and Gronkowski is Roethlisberger sized.

It took an injury to bench McFadden.

Hopefully Gronk has his mind more occupied on more important things than Sunday's game...

Who's gonna start this week in place of Farrior?!?! Sylvester? Just saw he's questionable!

Mark Kaboly from Pittsburgh Tribune on twitter says Sylvester will start in base packages. I don't know where he got that intel from though.

If Sylvester starts at LB the backseat coaches here will wet their pants
The only thing that would make them happier is if Thad Gibson got signed and started

No, it took other people playing better than him. There's not playing, and there's getting benched. There's a difference, and he has been benched.
