Gerry Dulac's NFL Forecast: Week 9
Thursday, November 03, 2011
By Gerry Dulac, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Pigskin picks from the PG's gridiron guru ...

Last week: 11-2 (.846)

Season record: 82-34 (.707)

Baltimore Ravens (5-2) at Steelers (6-2), 8:20 p.m., Sunday

The Skinny: In his past four games, Joe Flacco has looked nothing like the quarterback who helped beat the Steelers by 28 points in the opener. In the past four games, Ben Roethlisberger and the offense have looked nothing like the unit that produced just one TD in Baltimore.

Prediction: Steelers, 24-14

New York Jets (4-3) at Buffalo Bills (5-2), 1 p.m., Sunday

The Skinny: The Bills are one of six AFC teams who are unbeaten at home, even if one of those games was in Toronto. The Jets, who have won two in a row, are one of four AFC teams who are winless on the road.

Prediction: Bills, 30-27

Seattle Seahawks (2-5) at Dallas Cowboys (3-4), 1 p.m., Sunday

The Skinny: One week after winning 34-7, the Cowboys found out how it feels to lose by that score to the Eagles. But they have a new weapon for the Seahawks to behold: RB DeMarco Murray, who averages 9.9 yards per carry.

Prediction: Cowboys, 30-10

Cleveland Browns (3-4) at Houston Texans (5-3), 1 p.m., Sunday

The Skinny: The Browns are so desperate for running backs they might want to consider asking the run-heavy Texans if they can borrow one. They might oblige, so long as they don't part with Arian Foster.

Prediction: Texans, 20-16

Atlanta Falcons (4-3) at Indianapolis Colts (0-8), 1 p.m., Sunday

The Skinny: If I'm the Colts, I still draft Andrew Luck with the No. 1 pick. I get the whole Peyton Manning thing, but it's time to get the heir apparent in place. Or maybe just someone who can win a game.

Prediction: Falcons, 23-13

Miami Dolphins (0-7) at Kansas City Chiefs (4-3), 1 p.m., Sunday

The Skinny: After losing their first two games by a combined 89-10, the Chiefs have won four in a row to tie for the division lead. It won't happen today, but I sure hope they lose soon. Todd Haley looks homeless with that beard and hoodie.

Prediction: Chiefs, 27-9

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-3) at New Orleans Saints (5-3), 1 p.m., Sunday

The Skinny: You can fit into Casey Hampton's pants all the people who thought the Saints would get whacked last week by the winless Rams. Don't expect a repeat at home against the Bucs, even though they are coming off a bye.

Prediction: Saints, 31-20

San Francisco 49ers (6-1) at Washington Redskins (3-4), 1 p.m., Sunday

The Skinny: After a fast start, the Redskins have lost four of their past five games. And, after a 1-1 start, the 49ers have won five in a row and distanced themselves so far from the NFC West pack that it is easier seeing the Golden Gate Bridge from Sausalito on a foggy morning.

Prediction: 49ers, 23-16

Denver Broncos (2-5) at Oakland Raiders (4-3), 4:05 p.m., Sunday

The Skinny: In an attempt to make Carson Palmer feel more at home, the Raiders signed former Bengals receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh. It has been suggested the Broncos tailor their offense to fit Tim Tebow. To what ... the Wing-T???

Prediction: Raiders, 31-13

Cincinnati Bengals (5-2) at Tennessee Titans (4-3), 4:05 p.m., Sunday

The Skinny: The surprising Bengals own the best road record in the AFC (3-1). A victory will put them in good position for a nice Ohio River showdown next week with the Steelers. But the Titans are already 2-1 against the AFC North.

Prediction: Titans, 23-20
