Steelers' Woodley hopes to return for Chiefs

Steelers outside linebacker LaMarr Woodley is cautiously optimistic that he will return to action Nov. 27 when the Steelers visit Kansas City for a prime-time game.

"I'll be back hopefully after the bye week," Woodley said Tuesday.

Woodley has missed the past two games, and the hamstring injury he sustained Oct. 30 has kept him in something of a holding pattern. The Steelers' bye gives Woodley an extra week to heal, and the fifth-year veteran will get to enjoy some time off like the rest of his teammates.

The Steelers hold their final practice of the week Wednesday, and the players are off until Monday. Woodley said he plans to return to his native Michigan rather than stay in Pittsburgh for treatment.

"You can't do much about it but let it rest up," Woodley said of his injury. "It's almost like a broken arm, (and it will heal) whether I'm here or at Michigan."

>> The Steelers may not be at full strength at wide receiver when they return from the bye. Wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders is still limping noticeably after undergoing knee surgery last week. When asked if he expects to play against the Chiefs, Sanders said, "We'll play it by ear."

>> The Steelers went from third place to first in the AFC North on Sunday by virtue of their win over the Bengals and the Ravens' loss in Seattle. Woodley said the way the season is shaking out, the Steelers could get an opportunity to avenge two losses to the Ravens in the playoffs. Woodley is sure of one thing: The Steelers are bound for the playoffs. "We're going to be playing football in January," he said.

I'm sure they are all chomping at the bit, waiting to get fully healthy for the run - they've got plenty of unfinished business

Perfect revenge tour if they get a 1 or 2 seed:

Ravens
Patroits
Packers

That would be brutal. I want to avenge our losses to the Ravens in the playoffs but I don't want anything to do with the Patriots or Packers. If we did beat all 3 that would be f'n awesome though.

Rats yes - Pats not as much lol. I have this uneasy feeling (probably from past experiences) about playing Pats a second time.

Hoping Packers are peaking and getting overly confident. I think someone has a great chance of knocking them out of the playoffs. If someone can find a way to keep Rodgers on the bench - they are beatable. He is "due" for a bad game . . . right?:uhh:

The Steelers have the offense that actually can keep pace and point for point with either the Packers or the Patriots, but they also have something that the other teams don't have and that's the defense! In my opinion, I think the Steelers are able to beat any team in the league, they just have to show up and do it!

Maybe LaMarr will encompass the spirit of Derrick Thomas ala his 7 sack game.

I'd be fine with the Packers running the table up until the SB like the Pats as long as we get to play the role of the Giants.

Steelers may have the offense, but they are VERY inconsistant. So is Ben.
Whereas, Packers & Pats* offense are very consistant.
So there is no comparison in my mind. Steelers would have to play full 60 minute football on both off. & def. to beats the Packers. Something they have not really done this year. There is no 60 minute football on this Steelers team. Usually it is 30 or 45 minutes...
