Q: You need one more catch to surpass the late Elbie Nickel (329) as the Steelers' all-time receptions leader for a tight end. How do you feel about that?

A: I guess eventually those things should come when you're fortunate to be on the same team for a number of years like I've been. But I don't think I'll be catching Hines Ward (991) any time soon.

Q: What do you know about Elbie Nickel, who played for the Steelers way back in 1947-57?

A: I know he was a very productive player for this organization. His name is in the record book, so that speaks for itself.

Q: Who will be throwing passes Monday night in San Francisco: Ben Roethlisberger, Charlie Batch or Dennis Dixon?

A: A Steelers quarterback. I don't know. We have three capable guys. Obviously, if Ben is healthy, he'll be out there. If Ben's ankle is still bothering him and he can't go, Charlie and Dennis are more than able to lead our offense. They've proved that in the past.

Q: What do you see from the 49ers' defense, which leads the NFL in fewest points allowed?

A: If you look at their stats, that should tell you enough. They're good. They have not allowed a rushing touchdown all year. They have a good defensive line. They have a great group of linebackers. Their secondary is opportunistic. They've caused 31 turnovers. So it's easy to just look at the stats and see that they're good.

Q: How do you feel about being the only Steeler to make USA Football's All-Fundamentals Team which recognizes players who do their job with excellent technique?

A: I don't know much about that team, but certainly as a player, you always want to be sound fundamentally and play with good technique. So I take it as a compliment.
