View Full Version : Most overrated player in the league

Who in ur opinion is the most overr-rated, over-hyped, player in the league?

My money is on ray lewis, he's lost a step or 2 over the last couple years, and he's not near as intimidating or quick as he once was. He's still good, but no where near what he was. He cant take over a game anymore like he used to. But because he's ray ray, he still gets all the hype, no matter how much he's beginning to fade. :screwy:

Payton Manning. Followed closely by Bret Farve.

This should be overated/underated......

Overated: Mike Vick.....He is good, and an amazing athlete, but he gets alot of media attention and hype.

Underated: Chris Chambers......He is amazing, I have been watching him since college (Wissconsin) He has been making great achrobatic catches for years.

Honarable Mention:

Overated: Lavar Arrington
Underated: Javon Walker

Overated:Vick-he's not a RB is he?they call him a athlete, bc hes not a QB!

I considered Vick as well. They guy is an amazing athlete, and can run as well as any RB with the ball in his hands.. but he's only an above average QB at best.

I just down right hate him, if u ever hear the word "HYPE" it was made for Vick. Every time u ask someone who doesnt watch football much, whos your Fav player? they always say Vick, and that makes me sick hehe.

Another vote for Vick

I also vote for Vick. With another vote for Kyle Boller, i just think he will always be average.

Overrated : Chad Pennington
Underrated: Kerry Collins

I know Collins has had his issues, but when he's able to sit in the pocket and gunsling... he's one of the best. Look for a great season from him with his new weapon Moss as long as his O-line holds up and Lamont Jordan delivers some sort of running game.

Ok... procede to rip me for my choice of Collins :chair:

No I actually like Collins, maybe its the Nittany Lions thing? But when he is given the chance he plays big.

Avoid LLoyd1975

How about a little Randy Moss with a Mike Vick on the side. Both equally over-rated. One plays when he wants to and the other plays with himself.

05-27-2005, 05:21 PM
Randy moss will realize how good he had it in Minnesota when he has kerry collins throwing him the ball now

05-27-2005, 08:12 PM
Kerry Collins is no Dante but he can throw it deep

05-27-2005, 10:03 PM

Vick, yes I like him,but yes he is overrated. He's an exciting player, but not an exciting QB.You will never see him throw 25 TD passes in a season.

I'll also throw Eli Manning in.

Duce Staley-he will rush for over 1,000 yards this year.

05-29-2005, 07:25 PM
IF you are in John Madden land it would have to be Farve but to the normal people  , Vick or even Mcnabb.....

Underrated,...hmmmm....even tho i hate the baltimore Felons...err ravens i think K. Boler is gonna do something great this year.

05-29-2005, 10:26 PM
Terrell Owens is way overrated

05-30-2005, 07:14 AM
I could see Owens being overrated. He is great I believe! But not as good as HE thinks he is!

05-30-2005, 09:35 AM
I think it's impossible for him to be as good as he thinks he is... what an ass!!

05-30-2005, 11:50 AM
I gave this some thought as this post was up for about a week and finally choose my winner(or loser)...Keyshawn Johnson. Talks like Dieon Sanders, plays like Dion Warrick.

Payton Manning. Followed closely by Bret Farve.

i agree with payton manning....but i dont think favre is overrated....hes a great player

as for my pick....i would have to saytom brady....maybe its because i cant stand him....but i just dont think he that good....i think he has the benifit of great coaching and a great defense

I've never thought of players who don't deliver Super Bowl wins as over rated. You meen to tell me that Peyton has to throw 80 TD's to live up to his hype? Come on. There are plenty of HOF players who didn't win the Super Bowl. I just view it as actual production versus expected(draft status+contract money/years in league)production.
