I want him or Dont'a Hightower. We need a ILB more than a NT because we have, Hood,McClendon and Heyward who can be NT as well as, AL Woods. We can draft a NT in the 2nd or 3rd round. We need ILB,OG,NT,FS/SS,FB,OT,DE/OLB

If he's the best player available, sure why not?

I for one would like to see him in Black and Gold. He's mean and nasty the way a Steelers linebacker should be. Timmons is good and so is Farrior but Farrior/Foote are getting old. Burfict could learn from some of the best and with his physical tools he should be able to dominate. I like his physical presence and nasty demeanor.

Just look at his speed, I would love to watch him crush Bungles, Ratbirds, and Brownies players on Sundays!

When was the last time the Steelers regretted not drafting someone in the 1st round? 1999 maybe... We could have had John Tait or Jevon Kearse. Other than that, when?

The last couple of drafts when did you ever see a player like Vontaze that would make you think that the Steelers could regret if they pass on that certain player??? no one comes to mind....cause im just saying the Steelers COULD regret not drafting Vontaze if he is there cause he could be the next Ray Lewis and idk about you but i would love a Ray Lewis on the Steelers defence.

im all about intensity, but i don't know if you can fix stupid. especially at the MLB position

i would pass on him unless we could get him in the 2nd round. if he is getting benched in college because of all his personal fouls then there is probably a problem which wont get better once he's rich

Agreed 100%. If he drops he is the best on the board at that spot

We were guaranteed by all sorts of geniuses that we were going to regret passing on any of the several cornerbacks who were available. They were all wrong. All of the corners look like reaches right now.

exactly. i remember everyone here thinking we had to have Kyle Wilson or Brandon Wilson 2 years ago. most members would get mad if someone said the Steelers would pass on them. they thought both those corners would come in and upgrade or secondary.

years later and both corners ride the bench. i dont see either ever starting in the NFL

The buzz around Arizona State linebacker Vontaze Burfict unfortunately continues to be negative. I was told at the Senior Bowl when he showed up for combine training in January, Burfict looked soft and out of shape. Latest word has him completing less than 15 reps on the bench recently and Burfict has been slowed by a leg (hamstring) issue. All that we’ve talked with say the biggest issue surrounding the often times dominant linebacker is work ethic.

3rd round, maybe.
To paraphrase an Alonzo Spellman commment...."skills of a worldbeater, mind of an eggbeater".

I almost marked this as spam and deleted it because I thought "Vontaze" was an advertisement for some sort of medicine.

I need to go to sleep.

Vontaze has thrown an opponent's shoe on the field, refused to come out of games, headbutted players after the whistle, punched players after the whistle, choked players after the whistle, put together a string of 15 yard penalties Kemoeatu could only dream of and gotten blocked by every offensive lineman he went up against. He will be out of the league in three years or less. I wouldn't take him if he was an UDFA.

Oh yeah, like what? This guy is an idiot! The Steelers will never invest a 1st round pick on some1 with character issues.

I was speaking strictly talent wise and I wrote that before his awful combine. As for character issues, Santonio Holmes? I don't want the guy now from what we've seen the past month and half though.

I would give a 6th or 7th round pick for him and keep him as a reserve/ special teams player until the day comes, if it comes, that he matures. Nobody argues that he is physically amazing but character issues kill him. Someone is likely to wager more on him than the Steelers ever would but if he falls that much in the draft then I say why not?

I'd rather take Bradie Ewing FB from Wisconsin with one of those picks and maybe address a TE or K prospect instead.

Most guys look to the NFL combine and draft as something to work hard towards in order to fulfill a dream. Burfict somehow got slower, weaker and dumber in the month leading up to the combine. Not worth the hassle IMO.
