Could we fix the O-Line protection and run blocking problems by going with a 2 TE, 2 WR set. I think if we use 2 TE's the protection would improve, and the run gsame may get a boost. The TE's could release into the flats and soft spots when Ben scrambles. Just make sure Miller is always lined up on the right side of the line.

A 2 TE , 2 WR set may be the best AND EASIEST ANSWER for the line woes. Brown and Wallace would always get doubled, but it never stopped Swann and Stallworth.

I think for it to become a viable option, we need to get a game breaking RB like Taiwan Jones with blazing speed and Tony Dorsett moves. Raiders have McFadden and Bush ; they might be willing to deal. Boy, where is Barry Foster when you need him?:noidea:

A two tight end set and a gameplan similar to that of this years game against the Pats would be hard to beat.

It would help. That's usually what the pats run and now the rat birds are starting to run it also. Saunders is supposed to have a lot of potential so it wouldn't hurt to see him get on the field a bit. I would like to see it and I would also, especially with Arians gone now, like to see a FB in most or at least some of the formations. Johnson blocks alright, nothing special, and he can't catch worth a damn, it would be nice to pick up a FB, nobody fancy or expensive, just an actual blocking FB that can catch it 2 out of the 3 times it's thrown to him. I think the sky is the limit for this offense as long as the new OC doesn't adopt Arians play book. Watching is run a 2 TE set and/or a FB set and then every few plays bringing out the depth we have at WR to spread out the defense, that would be extremely hard to counter for any defense. Ultimately 2 TE's will not fix the O line, they will help, but our biggest weaknesses our at the guard positions. Hopefully we get some solid play out of Colon this year and can either draft or sign a guard or two that can play now. No formation will work to run the ball without good blocking. Redman is probably our starter as he should be because he fits the team the best as it is right now, but Mendy would do great behind a decent O line and an OC that at least somewhat utilized him in the passing game, much as the Raiders did with McFadden. No reason to look for a new RB, spend the money on the line.

We could solve their problems by going 5 wide and empty backfield with 20 second routes. Oh wait arians isn't here anymore my bad

The biggest thing we could use as far as the O-line is concerned would be having the same five guys playing alongside each other for more than two consecutive games.

We can talk about formations and routes all we want but without healthy players up front, there can be no consistency and THAT has been the biggest problem this season as well as the latter part of last season.

Absolutely. Starting the same 5 is as important as individual talent. Consistency breeds success.

If you go with a blocking fullback, somebody has to come off the field- Miller or the slot Y. You can only have 11 guys, 5 linemen, QB, 3 wides, a TE, and a RB.

If you bring in a FB, you lose your Te blocking and catching. Or you have to take out your Y.

I can understand the desire for a FB, but I'd like to see a running FB. I think it would be cool to use Redmaan or Dwyer as a FB, and try Batch or Clay at HB. Or better yet, try to get Taiwan Jones and use Batch as a 3rd down back, and him and clay as a backup RB.

That way, you got hard nose big backs that can block AND run at FB. If you take a blocking/catching TE off the field for a FB, I'd like to see a FB that can run, block, and catch. Redman can, and maybe Dwyer could learn. But the speed that Taiwan would bring to the equation is worth taking the TE off the field.

Raiders would like to get a pick or two in the first 3 rounds this year, you could get Taiwan for a 2 and 3. He is worth the gamble. He runs a sub-4.20 40, hits the line like the Bus, and has great hands. We need a take-it-to-the-house type of RB.

How about Just Drafting Better Linemen?
