hopefully the new OC will scrap the david johnson experiment and gets a guy who either excels at blocking or catching , neither of which is johnson very good at. total waste of a roster spot.
i'd rather have a WR / TE tweener like baltimore has in dickson or a pure blocking TE like mark bruener than waste a spot on johnson.

I think worst case the new OC will move Johnson at 3rd String TE because he is a much better blocked than Saunders. Johnson has improved as fullback though. Redman had those 2 big games with the help of DJ

Couldn.t agree with you more. Stonehands is a wasted roster spot. Think about his most memorable plays........case closed.

for me his most memorable play was when he let matthews run right by him and blast mendenhall which caused the fumble that broke the steelers back...that freakin turd ran right between pickett and mathews like he was the ball carrier instead of the blocker.

Wow, complete jackass. He went out of his way to miss those guys. His blocking seemed good in a few gamed but after seeing that, I doubt he has the mental capabilities to be an every down blocking FB. Not to mention his hands are made of steel reinforced concrete.

O.k. I watched that replay about 100 times now. Part of blocking is anticipating the defender and also where the running back is going. I think Johnson was setting up a block thinking Mendy was right behind him (which would have caused Matthews to close his angle of attack). However, that was not the case and Matthews proceeded past the block and the rest is history. Since we don't know if the play was really supposed to be delayed that much and we don't know how quick it runs in practice you can't say who's at fault. For all we know, Mendy screwed the timing of the play by treating it as a delayed draw and not just an off tackle trap. Mendy still has to hold onto the ball and let's face it, Matthews made a big play in a big game.

Now that I'm done defending a player that is putting in more effort than he's getting credit for ... we really do need a true FB on this team. Most teams still have that one guy that plows a hole in short yardage.

Most of the time he runs past the tackler, and that's not effort it's avoiding effort. He needs to go with Arians.

johnson was setting up a block ? on who ? the invisible man ? the only defenders that could stop mendy were pickett and mathews. legursky clearly was beat out of his jock by pickett , but the ONLY one left on that side that wasn't engaged by a blocker was clay... the lead blocker johnson, didn't block anybody and ran right by the only unblocked guy.... ok i'm no coach but here's my reasoning.....
1. offense -everybody was engaged in a block BUT johnson
2 defense - everybody was being blocked or trying to be blocked except matthews
2+2= 4 ....:applaudit:
