If he were a little more light-skinned, he'd look like Troy Polamalu as a QB.

I think the kid really could have used one more year in college. It's a good thing he was drafted by the Steelers, a team with an established QB at the helm, because I don't think he's NFL-ready right now. A couple years learning behind Ben should do him a lot of good. I think he's a very dynamic player, but he's still a little raw at this point.

Just curious why do you think that?

well the way he was talkin about his team, i don't think one more year would've did good, cause they are in rebuilding mode....well that's what i get from some of his past interviews, so that could've stunted his growth having to deal with the mistakes and stuff of the new guys, so coming out was a good choice, and like you said he can sit back and learn from ben a few years and be our franchise backup qb lol

pretty good read, but i don't think he has to worry about hitting a rookie wall cause i dont' think rookies hit that when they are on the bench as the 3rd qb lol

I can see him on the practice squad this season. With only Batch to back up Ben we need more exp. in the third QB

Jacobs could be a good player to have in 2 or 3 years. He can get some snaps in the pre-season and could be a player we can trade for draft picks if he pans out. If he doesn't pan out, we didn't loose much on the deal.

Lets look at some of our 3rd QB's....

Martin...St. Pierre....yeah..he can be a #3 guy....

He has upside...and he's in a great system...I like the move

Dont forget Tommy last year!!! LOL
But truthfully I dont think St Pierre was ever given a chance. He came into our system when we had a 3 QB rotation. I seen him in a few games and what did he do.....hand off. You cant learn anything if your just handing off.

Jacobs will make the 53 man roster. Rutherford really has no upside and him and Boyd are the only QBs on the roster.

If Steelers wanted another vet, they would have got one by now. I would say on paper this is the best late round QB we have drafted in some time (should be better than Tee Martin and St. Pierre is all I am saying)

There is a small resemblance.

Jacobs is gonna stick on the 53 man roster, before the college season he was projected as the 2nd best qb in his class, he had a bad year but he still has 1st round talent, a few year maturing behind Ben and Batch and jacobs will fetch the steelers a nice draftpick

I don't see him being used for a QB except in an emergency. More Randel El like.

1st of all he WON'T be on the practice squad because somebody would snatch him up in less than 30 minutes. Geez, if the Ravens were willing to take Brian St. Pierre from our practice squad then you can bet that 30 other teams would be willing to snatch Jacobs. And next, who cares if he's raw? If he didn't come out early and raw then the Steelers would never have had the opportunity to pick him up. Be thankful that he's raw.

Whether or not he excels in the NFL is open to debate. But what Omar says and thinks is IRON CLAD. Its hard to believe that lightnng will strike twice at QB for the Steelers but I'm pulling for Jacobs' success not just because he is a Steelers.
