Pittsburgh Mayor Bob O'Connor has nominated former Steelers defensive end L.C. Greenwood to join the board of the Pittsburgh Parking Authority.

The six-time Pro Bowl player retired from a 12-year career with the Steelers and the National Football League in 1981. He played in all four of the Steelers' Super Bowl victories in the 1970s.

Greenwood, of Point Breeze, is now president of Greenwood-McDonald Supply Co., a plumbing and electrical supplies company in Robinson. He has also worked as an executive for Chester, W.Va.-based MTR Gaming Group, Inc., operator of the Mountaineer Racetrack.

The nomination went before City Council today. The council could take a preliminary vote on the appointment next week. If appointed to the authority, his term would run until July 31, 2008.
