Who was the Steelers first Hall of Famer, and what year was he selected?

Bert Bell and John McNally were both inducted in 1963...Bell as a administrator/coach and McNally as a player/coach

...Robert (Cal) Hubbard played for the Steelers and was inducted in 1963..but I believe as a Packer...(and the only person to be inducted in the baseball and football hall of fame)

i'm wrong. i still say i saw the game. here's a little help maybe

2001, week 15, LIONS 14 at STEELERS 47
Chris Fuamatu-Ma?afala ran for 126 yards as Jerome Bettis sat out a third consecutive game with a hip and groin injury. It was the Steelers? first 100-yard game by anyone except Bettis since Stewart ran for 102 yards against Carolina on Dec. 22, 1996.

so it either happend before Dec. 22, 1996 or after 2001.

HERE ARE THE RULES AGAIN:

-The question must be about a nationally known event, please do not use your elementary, middle, or high school

-After 24 hours there must be a correct answer or the person who asked the unanswered question will give the answer to the unanswered question and then ask a new question He/She will receive as much karma as the people playing trivia want to give out for stumping the group. (Each trivia player should give out karma to a person who stumped the trivia group) because that does not happen often

-We use the source of the person asking the question, no other source xomes into play, the reason for this is because some questions have a couple different answers, so to avoid any arguing we have made the rule that the sourced used by the person asking the question is all that matters.

- When a question is correctly answered the person who asked the question will give the person who answered the question, karma.

Please go by the 24 hour rule, keep it moving. If you are not going to be around for awhile, please be considerate of the other players and stay out of the game until you can be around.

thanks so very, very much and have fun!~

Brister's previous career, as an NFL quarterback, began when the Steelers drafted him in the third round of the 1986 NFL Draft out of small Northeast Louisiana University. A wide-eyed rookie, he admits he was overwhelmed during his first season. "Coming out of the gate, I got thrown to the wolves early," he recalled. "I played as a rookie and really wasn't ready for the big time. I came from Division I-AA. But I grew up a lot."

I have done everything I can do to keep this game going, evidently the people here at Steelers Fever cannot or will not keep this sticky up. I apologize to all you wonderful players, but like you I am just a member here and have no control over what is done, all I can do is request, which I did, they complied by making a sticky. kordell didn't start as a rookie. it has to be someone else.

i'm gonna say Mike Kruczek in 1976 week 6 vs bengals.

the bengals linebacker, bo something, hit him late out of bounds and lambert came flying down from the bench and hit him back. really got the team turned around that year. won 9 straight and had 5 shutouts in the last 9 games. best defense ever.

I'll take a stab:

Mel Blount rule: No contact to a reciever after 5 yards from the line of scrimmage. I think you used to be able to hit them until the ball was in the air. Mel used to just smack the hell out of the recievers.

I think they changed the coin toss rule after the Thanksgiving Bettis incident. You call it before they toss it.

If you just started playing, please read the rules.
In the future, please remember the 24 hour rule. If your question is not correctly answered in that time, it is up to YOU to ask a new question. Keep in mind that the idea is to stump the group and if you do that, everyone playing is suppose to give you positive reputation.

You will find different answers on different websites and I will again alude to the question about how many steelers #s have been retired. One site says the Ernie guy, another site says the steelers do not officially retire numbers, another site says says they have never had an offical ceremony to retire Ernie's number, official being the operative word here.

So, in short to keep this game going we rely upon the source the person who asked the question used. Good job LLT and go for it Sumo.

Heh heh.

I think the answer is the Eagles/Steelers 'Steagles' team - but then, the question isn't quite right.

The centre was deaf in one ear, it was the WR who was blind in one eye.

Their starting center was deaf in one ear, the go-to wide receiver was blind in one eye (and partially blind in the other) and the halfback had bleeding ulcers.

Happier days in the Penn rivalry.
