Ben Roethlisberger remember stepping into the huddle in his first year as a starting NFL quarterback.

“He was Hines Ward, one of the best receivers in the game. I got a chance to be in the huddle with him and Jerome Bettis. He made me better. It didn’t matter if I threw a good ball or a bad ball, 99 percent of the time he’d catch it, whether it was with one hand, off a helmet, or off a defender. He made me a much better quarterback and player,” Roethlisberger told Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Roethlisberger called Ward Wednesday night to thank him, and left a message on Ward’s voicemail. He said that Ward will always be a Steeler, no matter what happens in 2012.

I like what Ben says of Cotchery, and it matches my previous thoughts of him. Cotch is a lockeroom leader and veteran. We need to get him back.

100% agreed. Ben said it all with his actions on how much he liked Cotchery when he got him his first T.D in Cincy last season. Ben started dancing around like a 10 year old all over again. The media asked him why he got so excited and he said "I don't know, I guess I was just glad to give Cotch his first T.D" or somewhere along those lines.

Ben likes him and word has it Cotchery has had "productive" talks as of today. Good news!

I sure hope we ink him. He's already said he wants a long-term deal, and that will require some more cap room. Expect to lose some more veterans in the coming days.

IMO Cotchery is a must sign now. Wallace may not be here, Sanders is always injured, Ward is gone.

It always felt in the past whenever we needed a first down there was Hines with the catch and smile. I always got a kick of hearing other teams whine about him because you know they would have loved to had him. Hines will be missed but certainly not forgotten by this fan.

Sanders is always injured

Why is it that every time a young player sustains an injury, they're immediately labeled as "injury prone"?

:applaudit::tt::

Couldn't agree with you more.
Cotch is a solid WR. Not spectacular but generally dependable and a team guy.
He would improve the WR depth chart on most if not all teams. :thumbsup:

Because he has spent significant portions of both of his seasons in the NFL thus far, on the pine with busted ankles and knees.

Injury Prone? No. He hasn't been in the NFL long enough to develop that reputation.

People we're saying Pouncey is injury-prone, and i'm not buying that either. Sanders spent most of last season on the injured list due to his mothers passing rather than the actual injury.
