The Steelers select Dontari Poe?

Poe's stock is slipping as teams and scouts can't make sense of his incredible combine numbers but his invisibility on game tape playing against weak opponents.

Mike Mayock last night dropped Poe from #1 down to #4 in his DT rankings claiming as Brian Baldinger did in an earlier show that he spots some red flags with his production on the field. Mayock does mention good coaching of hand technique and keeping his head up to track the ball could make him a sensational player however.

Time will tell how far he will fall, but would the Steelers even take a chance on him because if he does fall that far he may be a bust as a player.

I would skip ... don't fall in love with workout warriors ... game tape means more then undewear olympics

i can certainly see where the concerns come from. its hard to explain how he could be that physically gifted , yet not be able to dominate what should be inferior opponents.he wasn't exactly lining up against the NCAA best of the best.

i'd rather have someone like taamu tbh. the fact poe hasn't been overly impressive in a weak division despite his gifts just screams underachiever

hes been known to disappear at times, and the steelers generally don't pick up low-motor guys who take plays off

I would be happy with Poe

well i wouldn't complain if they picked him up, im sure in a year he'd be ready to start for us. but i would much rather have a solid OT or G in rd. 1 if we can pick up a good NT prospect in 2-3

I agree. We don't need our entire defensive line to be 1st round picks especially when we need alot of offensive line help

if he slipped to us @ 24 that probably means the majority of the 1st round worthy OL have been picked as well as the two ILB's.

his stock is slipping now from over analysis of his play imo. you cant look at his stats and judge his impact on a game just the same that you cant say hes gonna be good based on his combine numbers. early in the year nearly all the scouts agreed he was the best NT prospect around. i think he still is. when you watch his tape you shouldnt foucus on just him. look at the two OL that are walling him off as a reason he doesnt get into the backfiled and rack up more tackles.

all he has to do is command a double in the NFL to be worth our top pick. i think he can do that easily with some good coaching.
