So they:
1 - Get rid of a promising running back who was meant to the base of the 'future' for the Browns
2 - Then tell their starting QB that you WILL NOT draft a QB in the first round as he is the 'future' for the Browns
3 - Draft a QB in the first round that is old enough to be said starting QB's dad
4 - Trade said starting QB to Green Bay where he will warm the bench

Do you ever wonder why the Browns have never won anything?

Richardson is better than any back we have, Going to be a star....But a 28 year old QB in round 1 was reaching...

I'm referring them to getting rid of Peyton Hillis. I rank Hillis above Richardson. Controversial, but I think he's better

Richardson was almost a no-brainer.. the problem for them is they don't have any receivers or tight ends who will force defenses to back off Richardson.. not to mention they now have a 28 year old rookie QB. Richardson is going to have the entire defense breathing down his neck as soon as the ball is snapped unless Weeden pans out and they draft a stud receiver on day 2 or 3. their line isn't as good as it was a couple years ago either. McCoy was running for his life all season last year. even Joe Thomas wasn't as dominant as he was in years prior.

is he ? who was the best RB in last years draft ? mark ingram ? oh crap he ran behind behind alabama's oline too... coincidence? i think not. i'm not saying either guy won't be good , but two college super stars running behind the same line , leads me to believe the bulk of their success might be because of their teammates who paved the way for them.

2011 - mark ingram

2010 - cj spillar , ryan mathews , jahvid best

2009 knowshon moreno, donald brown , beanie wells

any of these first rounders making a big difference for their teams ?

A lot of them are serviceable, and some of them are 1,000 yard backs. I'd say their good, but not superstars.

i don't think serviceable is what gm's have in mind when picking a player in the 1st.
the bad thing about drafting the college star running back is their star blockers don't come with em...just ask mendenhall...:wink02:

Well, I say we let teams just keep thinking that and undervalue positions we need, like stud offensive linemen.

if they were going to take a franchise QB at 22, then they should have taken Russell Wilson. Actually they could have picked another star at 22 and Wilson would have been available for them in the next round.

Yeah, he's not big, he's McCoy/Brees sized but he lit everything on fire in college and has unreal deadly accuracy and was also the smartest QB in the draft. This guy's going to be better than Tannehill, Luck, or Griffin. Watch. He's a Drew Brees clone.
I'm not big on Weedon, although he will be an upgrade over McCoy (at least i think so)

The smart thing to do with their top pick would've been to sit on it and take either Richardson or Blackmon, whoever was available, because they needed help at both. Instead they traded half a draft to move up one spot for essentially a sideways move. This is why they are the Browns.

They probably could've used those fourth and fifth-round picks, because right now, the Browns are basically a bunch of fifth and sixth-round picks.

Yep. Vikings gotta be feeling pretty smart for fleecing them like that just so the Browns could move up one pick. I know why the Browns did what they did as they were worried about the Bucs trading up with Minnesota but still that was an impatient move by a team that needed all the picks it can get.
