Saw this youtube stuff recently and was impressed with how hard he is working. Maybe all athletes train this hard and I just don't see it, but I think he has a real good shot at being the lone H-back standing come September. Very Strong, Fast, and great hands. I think this guy is going to come in and seize the opportunity.

I doubt it. He never ran the ball once in college.

Here are his career totals from 2007 - 2010 at WVU...

25 rec. for 249 yards and 4 TDs
0 rushing atts.

Unless there is another 4 year player with the same name at WVU

I don't mean HB (halfback) I mean H-back. David Johnson has never run the ball either. He would block and catch the occasional pass, but never run.

He has ran the ball for us a handful of times

Sorry to disagree but although it seems he has run the bowl at some point in his career here, the stats show he never has (assuming we are talking about David Johnson)

Chad Spann is already gone.gone where? he is a practice squad player and was at the fan blitz draft weekend signing autographs. :noidea:

unless you know something we dont.

he certainly wont be the h-back, but he has been working all off season as if he is still on the 53 man roster.

Steelers Release RB Chad Spann & CB Antonio Smith

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2012 by Dave Bryan

I had a feeling that a few corresponding roster moves might be on the way soon as the Pittsburgh Steelers roster was over 90 players after the undrafted free agents had been identified. That indeed was the case on Wednesday as Mark Kaboly reports via Twitter that running back Chad Spann and cornerback Antonio Smith have now been released.

Spann was signed to the Steelers practice squad in mid December of last season and was promoted to the active roster for the AFC Wild Card game against the Denver Broncos after Rashard Mendenhall was lost for the season in the season finale against the Cleveland Browns.

Smith had been signed to a futures contract after the Steelers season had ended and his stay on the roster was a short one. He was originally signed by the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent in 2007 and also had been a member of the Detroit Lions, San Diego Chargers and Cincinnati Bengals in addition.
