WASHINGTON - Democrats unveiled a party platform at their national convention Monday that echoes President Barack Obama's call for higher taxes on wealthier Americans while backing same-sex marriage and abortion rights.

Death, taxes and perversions...that's the ticket

It's a sign

God rains out Jeff Bridges' DNC concert

And it came to pass, just minutes after The Big Lebowski actor Jeff Bridges started an outdoor concert to welcome attendees to the Democratic National Convention on Monday, the heavens opened and spilled forth a deluge that forced him to cancel the event.

The sign from heaven came just two days after the Almighty reportedly sent another rainstorm of great fury to severely damage a sand sculpture of President Barack Obama constructed for the convention in Charlotte, North Carolina. The graven image was dubbed "Mount Obama" and was criticized for its hubris.

According to a report by Wayne Slater of The Dallas Morning News, Bridges (who is also a musician) was giving a free concert in downtown Charlotte for Democratic delegates and other heathen attending the convention. After Bridges greeted the crowd by saying "Hello Democrats," he sang several songs when the sky opened and the rains fell.

The musicians trembled in fear of the Lord, as well as fear of electrocution, and left the stage.

Jeff was then joined by his brother, actor Beau Bridges, and the two gentiles started an anti-rain dance to appease their Hollywood gods. This seemed to only annoy the Lord, who sent down even more rain. After much wailing and gnashing of teeth, Beau proclaimed "That didn't work" and Jeff ended the concert.

Rain washes out DNC opening festivities

CHARLOTTE, NC (RNN) – Mother Nature likes messing with the political process.

The Republicans had Hurricane Isaac that postponed their festivities in Tampa, and late afternoon summer thunderstorm cut short CarolinaFest2012 for the Democrats.

As native North Carolinian James Taylor sang "You've Got a Friend," the skies opened up and people ran for cover under awnings, hotel drive ups, parking garages and covered restaurant patios.

Many lingered to see if the concert would continue after a rain delay, but organizers canceled the event.

Well it wasn't hellfire and brimstone or anything.

But last week the evil Isaac threatened to wash away the Pubbie convention and veered off to the Northwest on a beeline for that bastion of drunkenness and voodoo on the exact 7th anniversary of his sister's visit.

Do you suppose? Nah, couldn't be.

Could it?

Avoiding 'historic' embarrassment: Dems move Obama’s speech to smaller venue

Organizers for the Democratic National Convention were confident they would fill every one of the 73,778 seats in Charlotte’s mammoth Bank of America Stadium by Thursday night.

However, as reported Tuesday by The Daily Mail, organizers are now “poised to avoid the danger of President Barack Obama accepting his party’s nomination before a partially-empty stadium” by moving the location of his speech to the more modest Time Warner Cable Arena, “which has a capacity of just over 20,000.”

No, they have plenty of buses. They don't have people. After "prep" for the DNC, there aren't enough vagrants, felons, pimps, ladies of the evening, gangsters, or various other "registered" democrats in the area to fill the stadium. The real people wouldn't cross the street to see him. But dey be scramblin' The city was abuzz last evening over the crisis. Film at 11.

The Kenyan couldn't fill half the venue for his 2012 campaign kickoff that he had previously filled for a Strickland rally.

16 Trillion.

You mean we are not running a surplus after the 2001 tax cuts were passed :jawdrop:

President Bush said Saturday that the most important number in the budget he sends to Congress next week is the $5.6 trillion surplus it projects over the next 10 years.

That huge projected surplus provides the underpinning of all the administration's tax-cut and spending plans, Mr. Bush said in his recorded weekly radio address.

"A surplus in tax revenue, after all, means that taxpayers have been overcharged," the president said. "And usually when you've been overcharged, you expect to get something back." The surplus figure "counts more than any other" in the budget, he said.

http://www.cbsnews.com/2100-201_162-274334.html

In January 2001, the CBO projected that the federal government would erase its debt in 2006 and, by 2011, the U.S. government would be $2.3 trillion in the black. The reality, of course, has turned out to be far different.

http://www.pewtrusts.org/uploadedFiles/wwwpewtrustsorg/Fact_Sheets/Economic_Policy/drivers_federal_debt_since_2001.pdf

Those were the days - lose the underpinnings but keep the tax cuts

Any party that controlled the Congress and Presidency and put 2 wars + Medicare Part D on the credit card while refusing to budge on the 2001 tax cuts should have a steaming cup of STFU when it comes to lecturing anybody about fiscal responsibility

so the rock star bill clinton absolutely killed it at the DNC..

how come the romney camp didnt invite the "peoples champion" dubya bush? or even rummy, cheney, or americas sweetheart prom queen and hoe-breeder sarah palin to speak at the RNC? whatever happened to the heroic speaking katrina mayor from NO who was gonna be the "next..."?

i guess it doesnt matter. I said this last election cycle- whether you prefer democrats or republican politics 1 thing is abundantly clear: the RNC seems absolutely clueless on how to run a campaign seemingly tripping over their own dicks every step of the way, while the democrats seem to be masters.

the democrats just know how to reach and relate to the masses better. while republicans focus on the difference of everyones individual incomes, wealth, life success or failures, the democrats embrace that eachs persons vote counts just the same, regardless of the above. (i get that the MAJOR -and top secret- republican platform is that each persons vote should be proportionate with their bank acounts $$$)

to put it bluntly, the GOP is primarilly comprised of rich, old, angry, white people, who hide under a cloak of Christianity, as they secretly worship in their boardrooms and masonic temples planing to suck the wealth out of the country and usher in the anti-christ.

teh democrats just wanna allow people to live their lives w/o being the "religious" morality police, and provide assistance to those who need it.

do i got it right, vinnie? :tt02:

Democrats reinstate "God" and Jerusalem language in party platform

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- After sharp criticism from Mitt Romney and Republicans, the Democrats have reinstated language into their party platform that recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel as well as the words "God-given" in a passage about employment, both of which were removed in this year's platform.

Further evidence the Democrats are so incompetent they cannot even carry out their socialist master plan of destroying the private sector

During an election-year clash over which U.S. political party has the best prescription for curing unemployment, Democrats can argue that almost two-thirds of private-sector job growth in the past five decades came with them in the White House.

The BGOV Barometer shows that since Democrat John F. Kennedy took office in January 1961, non-government payrolls in the U.S. swelled by almost 42 million jobs under Democrats, compared with 24 million for Republican presidents, according to Labor Department figures.

Democrats hold the edge though they occupied the Oval Office for 23 years since Kennedy’s inauguration, compared with 28 for the Republicans. Through April, Democratic presidents accounted for an average of 150,000 additional private-sector paychecks per month over that period, more than double the 71,000 average for Republicans.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-05-08/private-jobs-increase-more-with-democrats-in-white-house.html

Maybe the Democrats can better achieve their goal of wiping out the private sector if they cut taxes:noidea:

According to Willard part of the Dems master plan to require us to worship Satan apparently also will involve taking the name of God off the currency :jawdrop:

At a Saturday afternoon rally here, Mr. Romney did not just recite the Pledge of Allegiance; he also metaphorically wrapped his stump speech in it, using each line of the pledge to attack President Obama....

“That pledge says ‘under God.’ I will not take ‘God’ out of the name of our platform. I will not take God off our coins, and I will not take God out of my heart."

But Mr. Obama has never suggested taking “God” off the nation’s coins, as Mr. Romney’s remarks also seemed to imply.
