What's the point? Even if this guy were the second coming of Mean Joe Greene, Tomlin still won't play him as long as Casey Hampton can still grab a doughnut and Kiesel still has a heartbeat,

Probabaly just to add another body to the roster for depth, since Ta'amu will likely not be with us for much longer (3 felony charges + 10 midemeanors = jail time unless you are Lindsey Lohan).

Full name would help, but if it's the Bryant i'm thinking of, he's been on the team before.

That's fine. I'm pretty sure he's been on the team before. In fact, i'm almost positive he has.

him and al woods were in what i thought was a pretty competitive battle in camp and preseason for the final DL spot. both did well. corbin was one of the final cuts, and lost out probably due to woods having a nice in-game interception. both are more DE's in the mold of how mcclendon was a year or 2 ago.

Seeing Hampton starting on the field just sickens me. I honestly wish he'd step into a mentor role, but that's just me.

We have O Lineman dropping like flys and we sign a D Lineman... Makes perfect sense.

Bryant started one game last year, then spent rest of year on the squad. Think he was strongest player at combine his draft year.

It was a short ride

Steelers Promote John Malecki to Active Roster; Release Corbin Bryant

Malecki has been on the Steelers’ practice squad for the first six weeks of the 2012 season. He spent a total of five weeks on the Steelers’ practice squad in 2011. Malecki originally signed with the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted rookie free agent out of the University of Pittsburgh on April 26, 2010.

With Pouncey questionable, Steelers promote a blocker

Posted by Darin Gantt on October 20, 2012

With injuries mounting and center Maurkice Pouncey questionable for Sunday’s game against the Bengals, the Steelers made a roster move Saturday.

The team announced they promoted offensive lineman John Malecki to the active roster, releasing defensive lineman Corbin Bryant to make room.

Malecki, a University of Pittsburgh product, has been on their practice squad parts of the last two seasons, after going to camp with the Titans as an undrafted rookie in 2010.

Pouncey has been optimistic about his chances of playing despite his knee injury, but the Steelers are also without tackle Marcus Gilbert, knocking them down to six other healthy bodies prior to the transaction.

Hail to Pitt! Let's go Malecki!

I'm all for ex-Pitt Panthers players, but let's hope Malecki doesn't play tonight.
