PITTSBURGH ? The Steelers released rookie free agent linebacker Mike Kudla today, the team announced.

Kudla (6-3, 265), who was suffering from a hamstring injury, did not participate in any practices during the Steelers' training camp this year. He was signed to the team on April 30, 2006, out of Ohio State.

Just noticed this. Kinda sucks, huh? I thought he had a pretty good chance of making it.

Maybe just a business call. Perhaps they'll bring him in on the practice squad after the hamstring cooperates in a few weeks. They have to look at guys who can play today.

im thinking outr lb position is solid. better to cut him than n. washington, m. phillip, or r. bailey.

(i was hoping he would be the next m vrabel too.)

I thought Kudla was going to bench press the whole team!

That guy was soooo strong.

Im afraid the only way Pittsburgh is going to discover another Mike Vrabel is to let him go to the Patriots.

Yes, the Steelers are notorious for their inability to find quality linebackers.

No doubting you have a rich group of backers mattsme - but can you convert one into a part-time TE?

Better yet...do you want to?

Well, with the Eugene Baker news, this one was kind of coming. I'm sure this isn't the last we'll hear of Mike Kudla, though, whether it be with the Steelers or without.

When he gets off waivers look for the Patriots to snag him.
