Jason Whitlock goes mainstream media and calls out Chukky Weis for being who he is...the next Chapter of the Cryin' Irish. :crying02:

Banning media. Punishing reporters. Putting the muzzle on assistant coaches.

What a complete puss. You're gunning for the Heisman and National Title and this is how you respond to a little criticism.:crying01:

Great to see the Cryin' Irish are back on the national stage with a puss at the helm. Never heard Pete Carroll going to the North Korea card with Soviet-Era-like supression of the press. :usa:

Notre Dame fans should be proud.

The tipping point was a four-part series that examined issues related to high school quarterback Jimmy Clausen, who in April announced, in lavish fashion, he had committed to Notre Dame - arriving for a televised news conference in a white stretch Hummer limousine with a police escort.

You have to love that Notre Dame humility. Academics really do come first in South Bend.

In November, Sun-Times columnist Greg Couch wrote that Weis, who had gastric bypass surgery in 2002, "seems to be gaining weight. A lot of weight. And fast. Maybe it's none of our business, really, but while Weis seems right for Notre Dame, is Notre Dame right for Weis? Is coaching?"

Couch guessed Weis had put on 50 pounds and wrote: "How can you do that when your stomach has been surgically reduced to the size of a golf ball?"

You stretch it out daily with 4 or 5 Footlong Cheese Dogs and a half dozen Jelly Doughnuts.

Sounds like Charlie is overly sensitive and should be worrying about more important things instead of banning reporters and revoking media credentials.
Weis is a flash in the pan and I predict he'll be out of Notre Dame within 5 seasons or less.

Doesn't Joe Pa pull similar things at PSU?

Unfortunately, even Notre Dame has to sacrifice its morals and ethics to compete in the cutthroat world that is NCAA football. Something like this would have never happened under Lou Holtz's watch.

:yikes:

I think you should pick up a copy of Under The Tarnished Dome sometime.

OK. I never knew that there were shady dealings going on under Holtz at ND, but thanks for the heads-up.

It really depends on who you ask. Die hard Irish fans would dismiss that book because they'd say it was nothing more than a slam book written from one highly biased point of view. But it does bring up some troubling issues for ND fans. You might want to Google Luther Darville sometime to see what was going on at Minnesota when Holtz was there. There are also questions regarding steroids at ND under Holtz.

Solid response. I had to deal with sub-par when Tollner received a probation riddled program. The talent at SC underachieved for years (decades) - Tollner is a good coach. Mike Garrett is a cancer. He didn't hire Pete Carroll. Pete lobbied because his daughter was enrolled there. Not surprising that Garrett has been hushed - psycho (seriously).

C'mon. Paul Hackett. Nuff said about anyone willing to work with Garrett. Mike Stoops was the guy I would have gunned for and when I heard Pete's name I went for the kool-aid. We were all wrong, Now Stoops is at Airizona and his brother is in the hot seat. Go figure. That Orange Bowl crushed Bob.

USC is a wierd program. I have been close enough to the Trojan PR machine for three years to know that USC protects it's image at all costs. But it doesn't really seem to be a program that needs to do that. The Ting steroids thing is troubling, but they were just borderline players anyway who might have felt some pressure to do 'roids in order to keep up with the caliber of players in LA. PC seems to run a clean program where kids actually go to class and stay out of trouble for the most part.
